[vpFREE] Seven Stars Event

Hi Gang:
Some random thoughts about last weekend's Caesars/Harrah's Seven Stars
Signature Event in Atlantic City.
Overall, a pretty successful event, we thought. The entertainment ...
Lionel Richie at Caesars and Straight No Chaser at Harrah's ... was excellent,
especially Richie, who put on a tour de force performance. He sang all of
his greatest hits, interacted readily with the audience and had everyone up
and dancing throughout. One small criticism: the show started 25 minutes
late. Straight No Chaser, the 10-man a capella group, was terrific with a
whole new show than the one we saw them do last summer at Harrah's.
The welcome party at the Harrah's pool (Thursday night) and the outdoor
bash on the outdoor deck above the pool (Saturday) were both well done with
great food offered at both venues. A nice touch was the picture-taking
opportunity with Cheryl Burke of Dancing With the Stars before the outdoor bash.
Hedy and I are fans of the show. Two small criticisms: there could have
been more places to sit for the welcome party and some umbrellas over the
tables at the outdoor bash, or more shade opportunities, would have made the
sun and heat a little more tolerable.
The other amenties ... spa treatments (we didn't do the golf tournament),
Sunday morning brunch, 7X rewards credits, freeplay, shopping and food
credits, slot/black jack tournaments, play to earn Apple gift cards ... were all
smoothly handled and added to the experience.
As far as our play goes, it was an ultra-successful trip as Hedy hit a pair
of 4K royals (the second one DEALT!) and I hit aces for $800 five times
(alas, not one with a kicker!) as we put through around 80K for the four
days.
We also got a chance to try the new Seven Stars Lounge at Caesars before
the Lionel Richie Show and weren't greatly impressed. The room, which is
dominated by the rectangular bar in the middle, was tight to navigate and the
food choices were limited compared to the Harrah's Lounge. We also had an
obviously nervous young waitress who dumped a glass of soda in the lap of a
friend who was dining with us.
It was only their second day so we'll cut them some slack because they're a
work in progress but they need to improve the food and service if they
want to rival their Harrah's counterpart.
It was also nice to reconnect with some VP friends such as Harry and Bev
Porter, West Coast buddies Sabyl, Steve and Wendell, and Christy from
Carolina. An added bonus, Hedy's son Ken and his wife Lori along with their
friends celebrating an anniversary, spent Saturday at Harrah's. They enjoyed the
Steakhouse, Straight No Chaser, and the brunch at Harrahs Sunday morning.
Just a getaway without the toddlers is a 'win win" as far as they were
concerned!
We're back at Harrah's Saturday and Sunday for the holiday weekend
celebration and we hope to keep the fireworks going at the machines.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy
