To hell with the drunk from Wisconsin. I'm a predatory animal in the
gambling world. When I smell blood I pounce. I've always been the players advocate. The house can kiss my ass. If that is McCarthyism to you then so be it.

[vpFREE] Re: Bill Burton's Death

A true loss for the gaming community. I did business with Bill, mostly through e-mail, but was fortunate enough to meet him once several years ago when he came through town. Such a lovely man.

Neither Revel nor the state officials have denied the existence of such
a list. Maybe you are the bigger expert than those officials who are
supposed to be on the scene. And with the 30 days that the state
officials are telling people that it will take to check the facts, that
moots the whole ball of wax, including defenses like this one. If state
officials were really doing there jobs instead of protecting their risk
of hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money, maybe the playing
public would be able to see the evidence in question.

RE: [vpFREE] Bill Burton's Death

I knew Bill many years and considered him a friend and colleague. We tried to get together at last year's G2E conference but our timing was off. We wrote for some of the same publications. I didn't know he had Parkinson's. It is a terribly debilitating illness as I watched my father suffer with it, deteriorating him for over 15 years. It is not the disease itself that will kill you. It's the complications caused by the disease. I'm sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He also wrote a few books, I believe, one on winning at low limit stakes poker. He was a good guy and I never heard a bad word ever spoken about him. That is the sign of a true gentleman, as Jean and others have so well said. My condolences to all of his family and friends everywhere.

I just heard that Bill Burton, former About.com guide to CasinoGambling, passed away in Connecticut. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's last year. He was a skilled VP player who also wrote very practical advice on gambling. He was also a real gentleman.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: 9/6 jacks or better Ultimate X poker

I've played 9/6 JoB UX (Either the flush or straight was -1X lower than normal) and 8/5 Bonus UX (same -1X). Both single-line.

NOTE: Before you play any UX game, double-check the multipliers & payouts on the info page.
1) Check the full house, flush, and straight multipliers (on 3-play, 5-play, 10-play).
2) Check straight flush to see if it pays 40 instead of 50.
3) Look for anything else weird (e.g. royal pays 250 instead of 800).

Sometimes a place with 97% UX will have one full-pay UX game (e.g. Paris, Bally's, Rio had full-day Deuces UX .25/.50/1.00 for ~6 months before it was downgraded).
Often the paytables are different at 3-play & 10-play, even on the same denomination...and some casinos are inconsistent between machines (like any other VP games...seek & you might find).

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Revel

With all due respect, and I'm not sure how much is due, your using a one player example, I mean worthless sample size as evidence of your point. I think there's enough skepticism to avoid the promo but wait to judge Revel until near the end of this fiasco. Your advice is generally sound only to people without the discipline or decision making skills to ever belong in a casino anyways, who of course don't want to listen to anybody anyways. At least that is the way I see it. I do not intend to flame you beyond that and will not respond to a rebuttal.

I've been reading about the July promotion on WoV and I discussed some of the comments with my friend who's playing the promo. As I said, he's a known heavy hi-limit vp player, and he bets just as much on sports. One of them has to do with some supposed "list" of hi-level LV AP's Revel has, and that they are systematically banning these people from playing in the promo. Really? What causes rumors such as that? In the meantime, my friend is now up $2700. They must have missed this multi-million dollar per year player from their list.

I've only seen it only in 1-Play. Anyone know the return for that version and if there is a strategy available?

Saying certain players are being ousted isn't true since basically everyone playing slots at Revel this month can be classified as an AP. And if the casino is already eliminating freeplay from the losers then it can only be because they aren't playing by the rules. Otherwise, there'd be no reason to have this promotion.
