[vpFREE] Sams Town

 

We just returned from our bi-annual Vegas trip. Hubby and I have been going to Sams Town for 20 years.  Free room and food (even the Gold Card a couple of times).  Since the reduction of FPDW our offers have reduced, but we would still go. We went Wednesday, March 1 for the Young at Heart promotion. We have only been YAH for three years and this has always been a lot of fun.  We discovered the YAH is for locals only at all the Boyd Properties effective March 1.  Not sure how they fill hotels with locals, but we got the message loud and clear.  We are no longer welcome.

No offences Scott, but I don't get the Multiplier mailers, but the BConnected site indicates I might be able to get them too. Whether I decide to go depends if I still get ticked off about the YAH changes.

GURU,   Right on the money.....


While perusing posts, I spotted your writing.  That's the best explanation, I've heard,  of fall of vp in casinos,
including  slots.  States like Pennsylvania are really cashing in though.  Tightening up equipment doesn't hurt Pa Casinos.  There is no competition.  The state saw fit to limit gambling houses into areas.  VP machines 2 - 3% casino win with perfect play. Can't get a seat at VP on weekends.  High limit rooms worse. There might be one or 2 exceptions. Poconos might have one exception, but never been there.
 
When u have no skin in game, we know the likely result..

You probably already know most good video poker machines at Fremont are now excluded from multipliers. I believe the 25c Pick Em are still included if that's a game you enjoy.

I was updating my "playing calendar" for March and went to the Gold Coast website. When you click the Casino News and Promotions icon, it says there are March point multipliers on Mondays (March 6,13,20,27).


But when you click on the Official Rules it says that the Gold Coast multipliers are on Tuesdays (March 7,14,21,28).


Anyone know for sure if it is Mondays or Tuesdays? Is there any signage up on the casino floor?

This parallels my situation very closely--in fact I'd leave on a Tuesday, and come back the next Thursday, just to make sure I'd have two shots at YAH--might as well get the extra value when you can. Made it to all four properties to catch a big multiplier--of course, I never did.


Also, my offers seem to have decreased, even though last year wasn't a great one. Looks like I'll be heading to the Fremont next time--seems to be only property where "legacy" YAH rules still apply for non-locals--until the rules are changed again.

The moves that Boyd and Red Rock have made parallel the moves on the Strip (paid parking, cranking up resort fees). It's obvious that Las Vegas is booming again, with the younger, cash-flush, dopey people will pay whatever it takes for the "Las Vegas Experience", and the casinos are obliging. 

I'd usually be Jonesing for my next trip--now, not so much. The "local" properties aren't going to miss my business--although my host might miss my play--but it shows that the local market is very very strong--they just don't care about tourist business.
