John,
Most video poker programs will do a hand analysis showing the EV (expected value) of every possible hold of the dealt cards. OpVP also offers the Strategy window that allows manually adjusting the hand positions in the chart and optionally adding penalty considerations. You can then evaluate the chart to accurately determine the true expected return ("payback") of the game when the chart is followed unerringly.
