[vpFREE] Rio hotel problems

 

Wednesday there was a small fire in a service area in the Masquerade tower of the Rio, causing power outages, sprinklers went off on some floors, and some people were evacuated and given other rooms. The fire put out quickly, but the damage to some rooms on the 26-27 or so floors caused problems.

However today there was more smoke, probably from water damage to the electrical system, and more people evacuated, up to 1000 people affected and some people moved to other Caesars hotels.

Interestingly, we are scheduled to arrive at the Rio on the 31st, hoping for a room with a view of the strip, with friends in tow. My host called today and said we might end up in the Ipanema tower. Last year we were in one of those stupendous huge suites in the Masquerade tower. We shall see.

Seems like with the weak meter rate it would be rare to see a playable number, but maybe they've tweaked the algorithm to make them mostly go off at the high end. These are machines you can min-bet and still qualify for the progressive? Do they kick you out if you only min-bet? Min-betting was one of Lund's "Rob the One Armed Bandits" tricks, he was shocked when his wife got kicked out of MGM for doing it.

The Stations chart of card level benefits says that the free or discounted Princess Cruise for Gold, Platinum and President players is " based on play" so it isn't automatic for having that card. Doesn't say "based on play" for Chairmen.

Questions: I am platinum and could make president with one more big day. As a platinum, could I get a free cruise? How free is it? NCL now adds a $200 administration fee to each passenger, so their free cruises start around $450. I have only heard good things about Princess cruises. Looking for your opinions. Thanks in advance.

Ditto. I get the same error message when trying to access the Stations Princess Cruise site. Maybe they are all "out of the office" like so many others between Christmas and New  Years.

I'm not so sure you should limit Bob's abilities at VP to the best in the free world. 



When I grow up, I hope to play as well as people think Bob Dancer plays. I am arguably the best known "expert" player --- but there are many intentionally not-so-well-known players with skills far superior to mine.


And even when you're determining "best," it's not a single-dimensional variable. Some people are better at figuring out the mathematics of a game. Some are better at intuiting how much slot club benefits they are going to get for how much play. Some are better at talking casinos into giving them extra-good deals. Some are better are keeping their welcome when players with similar records are thrown out. Some are better at forming and keeping partnerships to share in the scouting and keeing-the-machine duties. It all counts. And nobody is best at all these things.
