Take a look at the vpFREE "Sessions" poll
(You have to vote to see the results, and
you can change your vote at any time):

These are probably what justify the expirations legally, although most
sports books would probably honor tickets that haven't been expired
for very long. I've had that experience with slot machine cash out
tickets. Several of mine have expired, but I've always collected on
them, although at one place, the supervisor who was deciding whether
to pay me or not first said she thought my ticket was more than a year
old and she wouldn't pay it. I once lost 2 sports tickets that were
worth a little over $2000 each. Since I could identify the bets I had
made and no one turned them in, I collected on them shortly after they
expired.

This places too little faith in the state of Nevada. Most people who
make sports bets are aware that the tickets expire, anyone who isn't
aware of their expiration (which is standard, as I've made hundreds of
sports bets and have never had one that didn't have an expiration
date) and makes a bet can read about in on the back of the ticket, and
the Gaming Commission has decided that these expiration dates are
reasonable, as they wouldn't in your "leap year" example."

The entire mailer is a folded single sheet with printing on both sides.
There is no calendar per se. Just a list of dates of with BB and/or

Calendars have always been single sheet, no? They do stuff the envelope with
other stuff but calendar has always just been on one page as far back as I
can remember.

Got mine today. They have gone to a single sheet with all the info. The
free play and multipliers are just in a list. Not very handy but I do
like the single sheet.

[vpFREE] Hard Rock Seminole

Went to the Hard Rock Seminole since I am working in Miami for a couple
of weeks. Closest airport to the casino is the Ft. Lauderdale
airport. Property is large with large shopping plaza and an extensive
number of food outlets.

All machines appear to be Class III. Although I have never been to
Hard Rock Seminole, I have experienced Class II gaming. There was no
indication that the machines were Class II at one point; don't know if
this means that they bought all new machines or not.

This list is not exchaustive but I found 9/6 JOB in $2/5/10 single line
in the high limit area along with $1 3/5/10 play.

Outside the non-smoking casino, found $1 JOB in about eight machines.

Deuces at the dollar (and higher) level seemed to be a new version of
NSUD; it was 15/10/4/4/3/2/1. (Since I don't have my computer with me;
not sure how much the cut on the five-of-a-kind lowers the payout.)

As for quarters and fifty cents, best found is 7/5 JOB and 6/5 Bonus
Poker.

Many video poker machines have blackjack, keno and VP on them so it is
a bit confusing when first looking at one since I had a quick
conclusion that a machine only had blackjack but actually had video
poker as well. Casino appears to have only a small percentage of video
poker machines as compared to number of reel slots.

Comps are .25%

There is no cashback however there is a promotion in February on
Wednesdays and Sundays you can convert comps to free play.

And "yes" I played some quarter 7/5 JOB; made $10 and left.

It is a nice complex. If desperate to play and did not want to fly to
Las Vegas; it would merit consideration.

Why equate an attempt to make money with "unmitigated greed"? The
Soviet Union is gone, and Communism is in the dustbin of history.
Here in America, it's perfectly reasonable to do business and make
money.

You just can't get money through theft and deception. Otherwise,
making money is a GOOD thing. Most video poker players try their best
to make as much money as they can. Maybe the socialists would attack
that as "unmitigated greed" too.

Why "bludgeon"? There's no evidence that the Wiz is doing anything
other than honestly reporting what happened. If it's true, then it's
journalism, not bludgeoning. This is the Information Age. Spreading
information is a good thing for everyone. The Wiz tells his story,
visitors to his site can read it if they freely choose to do so, and
they can decide for themselves whether it affects their decisions
about playing at the Strat. What's wrong with that?

I'm surprised you were able to get on any machine...VP or Slots. I was
there last night and the Friday before, and that place was crowded. I
much prefer weeknights or better yet, very early mornings.

I'll have to look for that machine when I go next Tuesday night.

BTW...I'm not sure if it was you or someone else, in another thread
that mentioned that Spirit Mountain doesn't have a bar. They do indeed
have one. It's right next to Legends Restaurant. Walk in past the
seating area in the front and you'll find the bar.

Re: [vpFREE] The Wizard of Odds: Las Vegas Casino Blacklist

Curtis....
Amazing to me that being who you are that you would take that side of this argument. At my regular sports book that I patronize when I am in Vegas they would NEVER refuse to cash one of my tickets. In fact a few years ago I had misplaced a winning March Madness ticket (worth about $1500) and found it over 18 months later. When I brought the ticket in...they called the manager over who smiled and punched a couple of keys while joking with me about the ticket and that he had remembered that game. There is NO excuse for a casino doing such a thing UNLESS fraud is suspected (stolen ticket or whatever). Why SHOULD they have expiration dates Curtis? Can you give me any GOOD reason other than unmitigated greed? I have a favor to ask of you as well. If you EVER become a sports book manager would please post that so I can avoid that place like the plague. I have no doubt the back of the ticket I bought there would state "void after 72 hours" even
though I bought a futures ticket that didn't take place for 6 more months.

Will there ever be a casino in Vegas that would make jackessiebabe

on their sports tickets and TITO vouchers?

I seriously doubt it.

I think the analogy above is flawed. At the Strat sports book, the guy
didn't make an unintended bet and lose, rather the casino made up a
non-standard rule affecting the payout and tried to make it part of the
"agreement" by notifying him of the rule only after the bet was booked.
Sort of like the laws on credit card "agreements" that allow the bank to
change the rules and interest rates retroactively on all your past
purchases whenever they want.

The situation at the Strat is more similar to the following:

After inserting a Benji on your favorite DDB machine, you hit quad aces
with a kicker. Excitedly, you hit the cash out button and receive your
ticket. When you reach the cashier, the cashier points to your ticket
and says, "I can't cash this: see here on the printed ticket it says it
is not valid in leap years. Since this is now 2008, we don't have to
pay you until next year, at which time the ticket will have expired.
Rules are rules. You agreed to our rules by placing your bet. NEXT!!!"
