RE: [vpFREE] Feb Palms Mailer

Queenie asked: Our free play was greatly decreased. Anyone else find
that to be true for them, even if they have been playing about the same
amount as in the past.

I'm pretty sure they issue their mailers "on the curve," meaning the top xxx% get the best mailer, the next yyy% get the 2nd best mailer, etc. (Exactly what those percentages actually are is a mystery to all of us --- plus the percentages change periodically.) Since the last few months have featured Visa Gift Cards as a PEW award (the MWF gifts), many players have been playing more than they usually do simply because the effective "cash back" rate has been 0.45% rather than the typical 0.25% (this assumes you consider Visa gift cards and free play the same as cash. It's a close enough approximation for many of us. It also assumes that the non-Visa card gifts are considered close to worthless by many players. This is also a close enough approximation for many of us.) To the extent this is true, this means if you are playing the same amount as you did before and a lot of players are playing more, you're losing ground and will get a smaller mailer.

Personally, I've been playing more and my mailer has remained relatively constant.

Bob

I looked at this Palms sign today. It still says "A Maloof Casino Resort".

Mr. Dancer, you need to add the 12 multiplier(for the full house)
to the list of multipliers earned on UX DDB.

Your example hand that starts with two pair indicates that
making a full house yields a 12X multiplier on the next hand,
but the corresponding entry is missing from the table just
above the text.

P.S. I'm old fashioned and since I don't know you, I
address you as Mr. Dancer out of respect not sarcasm.

Why would Palms advertise them as 98.8%? Are they just mathematically
illiterate?

They have changed the signs, and now it says 99.7% but NSU is identified as 10/4 --- which isn't very descriptive. Worse, the Joker Wild game is identified as 7/5 (rather than 20/7/5, or 18/7/5, or 17/7/5 or 15/7/5) and is called Full Pay with a return of 98.4%.

One of the questions for Richard Strafella this Thursday on the radio is about calling such a game Full Pay, and how come a 98.4% game requires $2 for 1 point and is ineligible for any promotions? This appears that whoever designed the sign is intentionally misleading players with the "full pay" designation, or is actually clueless as to what the term means. Given that I wish to keep the Palms as a sponsor, I can't really phrase the question as "are you a liar or an idiot?" but I will find a way to get the question asked.

Bob

What an odd thing to post at the end of a longish commentary chastising

what is it about some people that when they differ, they feel the need to
be snarky. what enjoyment do you get sniping at fellow-group members? is it
really so difficult to understand that some people are sensitive to noise,
even if you aren't? that it can be annoying to some that people who are
screaming (and, no, not just at craps tables) often are doing it just to
draw attention to themselves, or because they get a kick out of annoying
people? would it be okay if i sat next to you at a machine and screamed in
your ear after every hand? these are legitimate concerns for this group,
based on why many of us go to casinos: for enjoyment, for pleasure, not
for aural harassment (i suppose that phrase may be more fodder for you; i
don't care). and maybe being rude doesn't bother you in other people since
it doesn't bother you in yourself. some of us prefer not to intrude on
other people's enjoyment. if that's not your point of view, ignore the post
and move on.

sorry all for venting, but i hope we are in this group to appreciate
others' viewpoints and to encourage free discourse.

My experience with cruise ships has been grim, but I did find $1 FPDW coin
droppers in St. Maarten (Philipsburg) last year. Fairly slow and you had to
make the double up choice after every hand, but still a 100.7% game vs 6/5
Bonus Poker on the ship.
