Like others have said, linking accounts together doesn't help you reach the higher status levels faster.  I'll also note, though, one piece of advice Jean gave to me a while back when I asked -- it is beneficial not to combine because in some cases where one of you gets no-mailed, the other may still keep getting mailers.

They will link your accounts. When you use your points, they first use yours and if there aren't enough, they use the linked account. 

Only the comp points are linked. 

They don't call them tier credits and reward credits but they do function like Harrahs points. Harrahs doesn't link accounts.

Tier points are not combined.

I can very much appreciate that approach ... if only my playing ground were consistently fertile.

Unfortunately, it seems that just about every time I find myself contentedly "capturing essence", eventually the casino poisons the soil and it's necessary to move on.  I find that I've needed to become more and more creative in seeking out play opportunities in order to continue "capturing the essence".
