Newbie:
If you are a 25 cent player you may want to look at Sam's Town with its free
shuttle to the strip and its full pay Deuces, 9/6 jacks, and full play
Double Bonus games. I haven't been there for a couple of years so maybe
other members of the group can tell you if the Full pay stuff is still
available.

Great questions. I am traveling with a friend who play. We are planning to
check out some of the off-strip casinos - are there any that would be a
better choice over others since we won't be able to g

I have played a few table games and many slot machines in the past but
really want to focus on VP play this trip. Thanks for the input - it's much
appreciated!

My apologies to Mark, as it appears that I am getting a number of duplicates
from multiple posters. Since my system is scanned daily, I am thinking that
Yahoo has a glitch.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Newbie Wants Comps

Visiting other casinos is a good idea but I would be hesitant to get a players card and play on that card if you are not going to be able to play what would be an amount of coin-in that would be indicative of your normal level of play.

Also remember that VP is a game of skill and playing as perfect as possible is required if you want to maximize your profits. So even though playing all day and night sounds good, be careful to not play when you are tired which can lead to mistakes being made.

Mark,
Is it possible that after these EIGHT consecutive identical replies, that

you might just have just enough energy left to remove your damn finger from
the send key?

going on with all the duplicate messages coming thru???

Have you considered the fact that it is pretty much a universal feature
of email clients that once you click 'send' the compose window goes
away? i.e. duplicate messages (and for what it's worth I only received
one copy of Mark's reply) are generally NOT a product of someone actually
stupidly clicking Send on the same message over and over, but a glitch
in either their mail client, or an intermediate mail server handling
the message.

Email on the Internet generally travels as

sender -> sender's outgoing server -> ... -> recipient's incoming
server -> recipient's inbox.

The ... can be zero or more intermediate mail servers. At any point
along this chain, there is the possibility (fortunately rare) that
the receiving agent thinks the transaction has succeeded and dutifully
forwards the message along the chain, yet the sending agent thinks the
transaction *failed* and therefore tries it again.

Ploppies can get lucky too. The definition, more or less, concerns
itself with what games you play, not what the outcome is.

But if you enjoy playing slots, knock yourself out, I don't have a
problem with it. (And some may think I mean that in a "thanks for
keeping the lights on" sense, but I mean it sincerely, in the "do
what you like, it's a free country" sense.)

.4 of a Royal cycle is about 16,000 coin in for quarters.
You were there a LONG time.

With 3x points you got 48,000 pts, or about $144 cash back.
You lost LESS THAN $200 playing 16000 coin in?

WOW. You are my hero.

I lost over $600 getting about 8000 points. Even tripled, I only get about $72 back from that play, leaving me a sucker and a loser.
Guess some people are luckier than others.

I've had this happen to me also (although the emails I was supposedly sending out were to sell something, not to scam money from people for nothing at all) -- so I asked a friend who is computer-savvy what I can do. Other than rigorous use of passwords, changing them, and other common security precautions, etc., that are widely known and usually use by most people, apparently there is little that can be done to stop or prevent someone from using your email address as "theirs" to send out whatever emails they wish, apparently from "you". I think the hackers' term is "spoofing" someone's email account.

One possible security breach is if you use a "public" computer (like in a library or hotel business center) and sign in to check email, etc., you MUST sign out when finished, or someone can simply sit down and "continue" your session using your account.

And of course, they have access to the email addresses in your email address book somehow, or have hacked in to an email you sent to multiple people and use those "to" addresses as certain of being "known" to you. I THINK that avoiding Microsoft Outlook reduces the chances of this being done, but I don't use Outlook and it still has happened to me. I'm sure there are several ways both to obtain your email address and send emails "from" it, as well as to obtain your contacts' email addresses for use.

WHEN you find out you've "sent" something like this (which usually only happens when someone alerts you of the outgoing email and / or asks to "be removed from your email list"), I think what you've done, explaining that the message is not from you to begin with, is sufficient -- I don't even think an apology is necessary, since everyone should understand it's not from you.

Fortunately (I guess) this has happened at least a couple of times before on this list, so regular readers should already be alert to the problem and the scam.

PS - Please return the money I sent you :)

The scumbags gain access to a someone's email account, usually by tricking
the victim to type their account/password info into a fake login page
("phishing"), then use the exploited account to send spam to everyone
in the victim's address book.

If the victim is a vpFREE member, chances are the vpFREE posting address
is in their address book, so that's how a copy comes to the group.

The innocent victim is generally completely unaware that their account has
been compromised in this manner until the angry responses start coming in.

One way to protect yourself: never ever ever type your password into a
page that asks for it, if you were linked to that page from an email.
If Yahoo sends you an email saying you need to login, go to your web
browser and type www.yahoo.com yourself. This is especially important if
you are logging into a banking site for what I hope are obvious reasons.
