The Vegas Hilton has lost a lot of business. Maybe that is why they now
have a bank of 9/6 JB machines (actually labeled that way!) in the sport's
book, at .50, $1, $2, $5. Points are slow to accumulate there at VP, but
once you get on the mailing list (out-of-towner offers better than local),
they can be generous, with monthly mailers for free rooms and free play,
tournaments, even Macys and Dillard shopping sprees, etc. They also have $1
NSU, Loose Deuces, and several DDB progressive machines, both in $1 and
quarters, and numerous other VP machines. The Sports Book area is one of the
best in Vegas, and always busy. The only downfall to playing in the Sports
Book area is the noise, which can get really bad whenever there is a game on.
They have laid off a lot of personnel, apparently, resulting in often-poor
cocktail service and dirty areas that have not had old drinks picked up.
Also hosts have been laid off, and when I call to book now, I can't get
through to a host, and she doesn't ever call back!
The buffet there is very good. Vegas locals should get a sticker from
slot club for 25% off of all food. The buffet at first may seem to have a
small selection, but actually the food is quite good, and includes very good
salmon, pasta station, good salad bar (with both yellow and red tomato
slices, yum), cold shrimp, prime rib, turkey, etc.
Benihana's sometimes has been having great specials. Leave your card at
entrance to get on the mailing list or ask if there is a monthly special.
For September it was filet and chicken dinner for 2 people for $46 (no
coupon needed)...sorry I didn't post this sooner....It was really a great
dinner, and actually cheaper than the buffet. (Locals discount not available on
"specials" prices, but 25% off normal prices).
They also have Steakhouse and Italian restaurants (sometimes one or other
is closed, depending on day of week), and good coffee shop, Pizza Hut, snack
bar, etc. The pool is very nice too. There is a charge to enter the spa
and use the gym.
The off-strip location may be off-putting for some people, but really the
Hilton has a lot to offer. It is also conveniently on the monorail line.
So if you have friends or relatives coming to Vegas, or if you want to go
there yourself, I recommend it. And they do need the business.

Tomorrow videopoker.com is hosting a video poker tournament at the South
Point. The prize pool will return 100% of the $50 fee to the players. There
will be one 10-minute qualifying round per entry on 10-6 DDB Triple Play
machines, with up to 360 starting times between noon and 3:40. The top 25
scores along with 5 "wild card" entries will play for the entire prize pool
at 4:30 p.m. A free buffet with beer and wine is included for all comers
beginning at 5:30. The tournament will take place immediately south of the
Show Room. Between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., I'll be teaching a free "How to do
well in this tournament" class. This is limited to 200 people due to space.
You do not have to be in the tournament to come to the class. The class is
offered upstairs in the Brunswick room, which is reached via the escalator
immediately in front of the gift shop. This tournament rewards fast play
because the more hands you play, the better chance you have.. If you are a
fast player, you have positive equity in the tournament. If you are a Gold
Member (or join for one month for $8.95), you'll get $10 in free play from
the South Point. Bob

[vpFREE] Re: Introductory discounts on OpVP 3
As I said, George, if you DID mention the booklet when you placed the
order, then I apologize for missing it.
Anyway, I'm sending the booklet, free of charge.
Notice to all: Although the special introductory pricing and free
booklet offer have expired, anyone can still get discount prices on my
web site, and you can now save an additional $2.00 if you "go green" and
order it for delivery as a zipped file attached to an e-mail.

George,
As described in the announcement, the free booklet is included only if
the customer mentions that he saw it on vpFree when placing the order.
If you did mention it, then I apologize, and I'll send one to you.
Please contact me directly.
BTW, today is the last day to order at the introductory price. It's also
the last day for vpFree members to get the free booklet Video Poker
Optimized, but you must mention it in your order. Snailmail orders can
still qualify if postmarked today.

>I think if you had a linear utility function of money you would play maxEV strategy and max bet or bet it all on any edge, actually you don't even need an edge, you just need an acceptable win rate. If you're willing to play double or nothing for it all at 51 to 49, why not 49 to 51? Is that 2% really that significant in this case? Or how about 51 to 49 but if you win there's a 10% rake? A linear function would mean that you would fear losing it all no more than you would fear any other result, you would be indifferent to losing a dollar out of a million or your last dollar. Seems to me you would call that "someone who doesn't respect money." They would either be filthy rich from birth or have connections to unlimited amounts of cash or be an ascetic or wish to be one or simply a person who really doesn't understand money, what it takes to get it and what it means to lose it, a typical teenager?. It might also be some sort of psychological reaction, a
person might be addicted to gambling and fear losing it all but would convince themselves they don't care to overcome their fear of losing. If Frank's still around that's probably right up his court.

[vpFREE] vpFREE Posting Guidelines - OCT 2011
vpFREE Posting Guidelines - OCT 2011
http://members.cox.net/vpfree/POL_P.htm
1. Everyone should read and be familiar with the vpFREE
FAQ before posting messages on vpFREE Forums.
2. Every message's subject line should accurately identify
the content of the message, to facilitate faster navigation
by interested or uninterested members.
3. If you reply to a message and change the subject matter,
either start a new thread (preferable) with a new subject
line or rename the subject line to reflect its new focus.
4. When replying to messages, quote just enough of the
previous post to maintain continuity. Delete the rest of
the previous post.
5. When replying to messages, clearly differentiate the
previous message(s) from your comments, so that it will be
easy to identify who wrote what.
6. Never post lengthy copyrighted material verbatim without
permission. This includes posts from non-vpFREE internet
forums. Instead, post a link to the material and/or a
summary. Short, credited excerpts may be quoted.
7. Don't use any vpFREE member's real name, even their
first name, on any vpFREE forum unless they themselves use
their real name there.
8. As a spam prevention measure, no one can upload to the
Files Directory on the vpFREE home page unless they get
temporary upload access from the Administrator.
9. Casino personnel probably monitor vpFREE Groups so posts
containing sensitive information should take this into
consideration.
10. Members are expected to observe the rules of
Netiquette , and to practice politeness and show good taste
in their vpFREE posts.
11. Any post that disagrees with vpFREE Dogma and
reaches contradictory conclusions, should be supported with
significant, persuasive documentation. Generalizations and
limited anecdotal evidence aren't persuasive.
12. Most vpFREE members rely on the forum for accurate
information, and may misunderstand, misinterpret or be
confused by tongue-in-cheek posts which are presented as
fact. Always make it very clear in your posts if they are
tongue-in-cheek, by using "smilies", stating that you're
kidding or something similar.
13. Use FREEvpFREE for any political, religious, or smoking
vs. non-smoking discussions. Non-partisan status reports
about smoking and non-smoking availability in casinos are OK
on vpFREE.
14. If you have Yahoo administrative problems, send a
private email to the Administrator, after you have checked
the vpFREE Yahoo! Administrative Problems Directory.
15. Let the Administrator do the administrating. Send any
comments, questions, suggestions or disagreements about
vpFREE policies or procedures to the Administrator via
private email or post them on FREEvpFREE.
