Re: [vpFREE] Covid-19 at Cherokee

Spent the weekend at Maryland Live! Mask compliance was 100%, didn't see anyone with lowered or absent masks.

There were 2 entrances that I saw; at both, there was a temperature check and mask reminder. There were also periodic announcement reminding patrons of mask requirements.
Temperature check also when checking in at the front desk, but not when entering the hotel at other times. When going from the adjacent mall into the second casino entrance, you passed through the temperature check
There was not however the omnipresent sanitizing agents pouncing on machines when people moved after playing.
About half the restaurants were open, with in-restaurant dining.
No valet parking, but they allowed you to drive through there and offload luggage before parking in either the garage or next-door lots.

I'll use this thread as an opportunity to share my experience in Tunica this weekend.  Wildly against all expectation, measures at Gold Strike were so thorough that there was near 100% mask compliance throughout the casino during my 3-day stay (literally 99%+).  Guests were only admitted by the main entrance, where they were confronted with a plexiglass shielded employee who ensured mask compliance and reminded guests that it was to be worn at all times (exception to eat/drink).

I never witnessed anyone on the floor needing to be reminded to put on their mask.  There were no masks drooping from a single ear, and masks pushed aside from mouths were relatively rare (and only in conjunction with beverage consumption).  I found this absolutely inexplicable, but very comforting.  GS had also installed a station mid-floor with a sink, gel disinfectant, replacement masks, paper towels.

At Horseshoe, by comparison, compliance was strong (but nowhere as absolute).  All aspects of mask encouragement were relatively complacent, by comparison.

Then I moved to the Gulf yesterday ... the experience at Beau Rivage reminded me of my recent experience in Reno/Tahoe.  Effective mask wearing around 90%.  Many people dropped the mask below their nose; even more "display" a mask but it doesn't cover nose or mouth.  I expect much of the same at Harrah's Gulf Coast, where I'll be tomorrow.

Sad to say that I'm not surprised.  Living in NC, I'm not seeing many individuals taking precautions.  No matter what the casino tries to do, they cannot control behavior beyond their own doors.  And the spread continues….

I'm surprised because I don't know what else Cherokee could do, they have been so responsible. And it doesn't matter what individuals think, if you are in the casino you have to be wearing a mask. Sounds to me like this probably happened among employees, not out on the floor.
