Indeed, I thought Wicked Spoon to be the best buffet I have ever been to. I had breakfast there, but there were plenty of lunch and dinner items there, even at 9am. It's a cross between a buffet and a cafeteria, in that you (obviously) are at a buffet, but the food is prepared to be taken away as an individual serving. Instead of a big bin of fried chicken where you use tongs to get a piece, they come in individual tiny fryers. Chinese comes in small chinese take-out containers, etc. Breakfast had the standard omelet bar, plenty of pastries (including pretzel bread, my favorite), lots of fruit and upscale cheeses (I loaded my plate with brie). I didn't eat very much, and can't even remember half of what I saw, but it was varied, and a pretty big selection. Lots of dinner options, too, though I didn't really look all that closely since that was not what I was in the mood for. The desert area has a gelato bar with 20 different flavors, and all kinds of deserts that are just pretty to look at (a mini chocolate "ice cream" cone was made of various kinds of chocolate and topped with gold leaf, for instance). Personally, I loved the fudge. Wicked Spoon is top-notch, definitely check it out.

The Black Jack Bonus Poker that he mentions sounds like the Black Jack Bonus Poker that has been around for years.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Current info on Cosmo?

Our experience is completely in tune with Clamato8 's. Holstein was a
pleasant surprise --- the lamburger was excellent.

The Cosmopolitan's sport books is tiny relative to its co-new kid on the
Strip, the Aria, but it offers hand held betting devices that can be
used anywhere in the casino and hotel. It is hard to enter at night as
part of the humongous queue for the nightclub is right in front of the
book.

The ladies in our group, who occasionally feel cold in some casinos, had
no such reaction at the Cosmopolitan, but the pay tables were so deficient
that we did not sit for long.

The Cosmo has some of the best casual dining options on the Strip.

Possibly the best is the "hidden" Pizzeria, which is on the third floor. The place is tiny and offers the best pizza ever at a Strip hotel.

Holstein's offers excellent burgers (including non-beef burgers) and shakes.

And some think Wicked Spoon is the best buffet in Las Vegas (I haven't tried it). Not as big a spread as Bellagio or Wynn, but many consider the food quality better.

There are plenty of upscale options, too (Jaleo, Scarpetta, etc.) -- the Cosmopolitan has done a better job on its restaurant scene than its paytables.

[vpFREE] LVA Question of the Day - 11 OCT 2011

LVA Question of the Day - 11 OCT 2011

Q: In the book Cullotta, a photo of the "Chicago Outfit
circa 1970s" names one man as Joseph "Little Caesar"
DiVarco. Just wondered if this person had a connection with
Little Caesars, the little dive-of-a-casino on the Strip
years back? Enjoyed the book a lot, BTW.

[vpFREE] Re: Multi-Strike and Super Times Pay

An abbreviated reply, Howard, but I completely agree ... The 6/4/2 paytable augment adds 2 coins, per coin wagered, for each level to which a win on the current line potentially can advance you.

In factoring a STP mulitplier to assess optimal strategy, you can either multiply the current level paytable by the STP multiplier and still add the same 6/4/2 addition -or- just keep the same current level paytable and scale back the 6/4/2 addition by dividing it by the STP multiplier ... both achieve the same result.

What's not clear from your reply is your take on the suggestion (from a prior post to which I replied) to apply a simple tactic of applying standard strategy to play with any 8x+ STP multiplier (it may have been intended that this is the combination of STP and MS level multiplier).

Again, not having actually stepped through the details, it's my guess that this leaves an uncomfortable amount of EV on the table and that if one were to pursue such a simplified strategy, it would be more appropriate to adopt standard strategy at a lower STP multiplier (perhaps as low as something like 4x+).
