[vpFREE] Cat Hulbert - Outplaying The Boys

I am starting to re-read Cat Hulbert's "Outplaying The Boys", a truly outstanding read that I would recommend to all serious gamblers, blackjack players, poker players, and video poker players.

What reminded me of VPFree just now is that in reading this a second time I noticed that Richard Munchkin's name is in the credits. I had almost forgotten that name until Bob & Frank mentioned him on their radio show, and apparently he is going to be a guest soon. Well, if I recall, his book Gambling Wizards had a chapter about Cat Hulbert. It's been a long time since I skimmed through that book. That should be my next re-read. I also have never read One of a Kind, by Nolan Dalla, which Bob Dancer mentioned in his article today, and I am frankly ashamed that I have not yet read that. Put that on my to-do list.

Anyway, I just want to say, that after you guys read Dalla's book about Stuey, I would highly recommend that you follow up sometime by reading Cat Hulbert's "Outplaying the Boys". It should be must reading, especially for all poker players, but it is a great book, by a woman, that should be read by ALL MEN!

Also, I'm thinking she might be a good guest for the Bob & Frank Show someday.

Re: [vpFREE] Caesars Seven Stars

What's the big deal with 7- stars anyway? You don't get much more than diamond and you lose a lot less cash to the Harrahs famous short parables.

Just go to the reward center and ask for your 7* card. Otherwise it can take 6-8

weeks for you to get it by snail mail. Hope this helps.

I just went over 100,000 tier points for 2011 last Tuesday. I thought the Seven

Stars status would kick in automatically but I see online that I am still just

Diamond. Do you have to ask for the bump? I see in the rules that you have to be

a member "in good standing". Maybe I'm not?

[vpFREE] Re: Hard Rock is now downgrading single line VP????

> Look on the other side of table games from that bar (in the "new" section). That's where you'll find two 25c 3/5/10 plays with 8/5 BP (at least as of today). The other one is still down the steps from registration.

These three "25c 3/5/10 plays with 8/5 BP" have all been downgraded to 7/5. The rest of the stuff in vpfree2 for the Hard Rock looks OK.

[vpFREE] Re: "Picking Up" Free Play

One of the problems of free play is knowing how much to play once you have
cycled it through. For the recreational player a way to solve this problem
and still play at close to "advantage" is to:
1) Calculate the house edge for the best game you can play and bankroll. For
9/6 JoB this is about .5% or .005 as a decimal.
2) Add the free play and cash value of offers that brought you in the door.
3) Divide the result in 2, above, (offer total) by the decimal in 1, above.
4) Play no more coin in than the result of the calculation in 3 (use machine
credits to track )
Example:1) $1 9/6 JoB = .005
2) $100 free play + $20 gas card + 2 $15 buffets =$150
3) $150 divided by .005 = $30,000 max coin in
4) Play up to $ 30000 coin in ( 6000 hands in example @ $5
per hand )
It really doesn't matter (statistically) if you win or lose during this
play, you are still playing at advantage.
Note: Your advantage decreases the longer you play, but ( hopefully ) your
future offers increase. If you don't care about future offers, quit when
free play is cycled through.

Now it's up to the casino to decide the next move, but one of these will
happen:
1) Your offers will be as good as or better than before, which means you can
play there at your advantage.
2) Your offers will decline or stop, which means you probably cannot play
this game here at your advantage.

Since your offers were based on previous visits, this is a little like
pushing a wagon with a rope, but I use the system regularly with pretty
reliable results. This helps a player sort casinos to find a personal match.

Any comments ?

Joel P.

[vpFREE] CaesarsSevenStars

My understanding is that you technically need to be invited into the "Club".
You do need to initiate this by going to the Total Rewards when you reach
the required level. You should get a Seven Stars card immediately, but it
will take a few weeks for the system to upgrade your status in the form of
special offers etc. Your host can speed this up if you are trying, for
example, to make the Atlantic City Seven Stars Signature Event at the end of
this week.
Once you are Seven Stars your renewal will be automatic when/if you earn
your 100k base during the following calendar year.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies to my questions about Seven Stars status. I sent
an email to the host who has been sending me her business card from the
casino where I have been doing the majority of my play recently.

Casino rooms are not very safe, poker players have been robbed in their casino rooms, especially in the big strip casinos. But if you find yourself trespassed with a room, you have the right to recover your belongings. Call gaming if the casino won't let you. Call the police if the room has been broken into or searched and ramshackled or if anything has been stolen. The room safes are not safe, the casino takes no liability for anything stolen from a room safe. You can probably refuse any charges to your credit card on the grounds that they kicked you out, i.e. did not live up to their end of the hotel contract. Inform your credit card company immediately about the situation so they can be prepared for the false charges from the casino that are probably coming. Be on the lookout for identity theft violations if the casino has personal information on you such as a photo of a driver's license. They are responsible for protecting that information.<<

Sometimes 7 star status takes a few weeks to kick in, sometimes a host will issue new card immediately. Best bet is to ask host at your main property if total rewards won't issue u a 7 star card.

[vpFREE] LVA Question of the Day - 21 JUN 2011

LVA Question of the Day - 21 JUN 2011

Q: I was wondering whatever happened to Lenny? He was on a
Las Vegas reality TV show that followed the lives of 4
people in LV. I think it was on about ten years ago. Lenny
was a compulsive gambler, who divorced his wife and moved to
LV. Another one was a showgirl who worked in a topless
afternoon production. There was also a professional poker
player.

It appears I "assumed" the process for 7* would be the same as diamond. Wrong !!
Sorry.  Hank

Yes, it takes about two weeks for them to process you into Seven Stars. You'll know when they do by the Seven Stars logo when you log into your account online. It may be up to a month before they send you the kit in the mail.
