They are always the same, no matter what gift card is offered:

5k/50k points (slots/VP) = $100 card
Half that for $50 card
1/4th that for $25 card
1/10th that for $10 card

Re: [vpFREE] How VP Changed Gaming's Devolution

So this proves that most people, myself included do not click on links just because they are there. They need some sort of reason. There are a number of people on vpfree who only get the digests and probably never click on limks.
A more interesting statistic in my opinion would be how many people go the the vpfree2 website to check out video poker inventories. This would give you some relevant information on people's desire for knowledge.

Regards
A.P.

I personally think Krum was referring to vpFREE. And while vpFREE has over 11,000 members the question is how many are visiting the site every day. I have a little thing I sometimes do to get a handle on how many people are reading me. When I put the story "You Better Know The Rules In While Sulphur Springs" up here, at the end of the story I put a link to an obscure youtube video that had only had a couple of hundred views in a couple of years. Youtube videos show the running count of how many views the video has had. I wrote the number down then posted the story and the link. Through the next couple of days the running count had only gone up about 300 views.

I have an imgur account where I upload screenshots of gaming machines. Imgur is very easy to use. I take a picture with my phone. Then email the picture to myself. Download the picture to documents. Then upload it to imgur. Imgur gives the picture a link that I can post on any forum so that others can view the screenshot. Imgur also gives a running count on how many views the picture has had.

When I post an imgur link to a screenshot of a game it usually only gets a few hundred views even though the membership may be 11,000. However, I got a good laugh when I posted up a picture telling vpFREE members "This is a picture of me and my friends drinking and having fun at the bar" The picture showed me looking like I was passed out on the bar. I intentionally did that so you couldn't see my face. The next day I went to imgur and the picture had already had over 1600 views. I LMAO. Sorry folks, it was just my weird sense of humor.

One of Viktor Nacht's RGE Publishing websites was advantageplayer.com. That link doesn't work because RGE went out of business a few months ago.

I've been isolated in Montana for 8 years now. I have no idea what the casino floors of Nevada look like these days. But I made a trip to Deadwood a couple of years ago. The machines were 90% video line games and only 10% video poker. Coeur D'Alene Casino in Idaho is the same way. And I visited a casino on the Spokane River in Washington. It was 100% video line games. Those games have a much bigger house edge than video poker. I'm wondering if thats the trend around the country these days.

[vpFREE] Re: How VP Changed Gaming's Devolution

have some issues with the article,
revenue is dropping despite higher hold per machine because of the higher hold, ie: players are losing money faster on non v-p games and are playing less,  and some casinos have increased the amount of table games offered as a result as players are now going back to them. Also they are starting to play v-p for the first time .
There are a number of successful casino companies that have excellent v-p ,southpoint , station casinos, peppermill and atlantis in Reno  to name a few, so offering playable v-p is not a reason for casinos for to do poorly.  Just management being stupid in everyday decisions is more than enough reason .   The casinos named above are well known to be some of the best run companies of any type , not just casinos, in the country. None of them has blamed v-p for profits going down.
(disclaimer, i own stock in Atlantis, I have owned and will own again station casinos. and I WISH i could own stock in Southpoint and Peppermill . I also made some money shorting Wynn because of Macau, and Caesars because of their martingale system of doing business  Cant pay your bills ?, making big mistakes in your decisions ? , just keep borrowing more money and keep expanding ! )
The main issue I have is with the statement that card counting can be argued as cheating, No it can not be argued at all that way.
Counting cards is a skill, as is playing v-p perfectly .  Is playing v-p  as well as you can cheating ??    Using your brain  is not cheating.

Excellent article ,   going back over the "basics" always good. The point you made about its the decision not the results that determines your success is so hard for non-v-p players (and a lot of v-p players) to understand.

Re: [vpFREE] Bob Dancer's LVA - 3 NOV 2015

Bob,
Thanks for the tribute to Yogi. Having both met him and having read the accounts of many others who met him, he was a true gentleman, and the world is just a bit worse off for his passing.
I'd like to contribute one other type of 'error' - the "kick yourself in the butt" error. That comes from making an otherwise meaningless, but potentially mentally disrupting error. In your deuces wild example, you mentioned picking the 4's over the 5's. You are absolutely correct that in the long run, the results will even out, no matter which pair you pick. But the tendency is to  "kick yourself in the butt" - I should have picked the fives! This momentarily flusters you and may lead to a mistake in the next hand or two, or slows you down while you think about what could have been.

I personally ALWAYS pick the higher of the two pairs - not because it makes any long-run difference, but just because if I always pick the higher pair, I don't stop and question why did I pick one pair over the other. Similarly, when playing P'em, when faced with the choice between  two essentially equal choices (e.g. A diamonds, Q spades dealt and a choice between the five of clubs and the three of hearts) I again always pick the higher card. If the two options are of equal rank: five of clubs and five of hearts, I pick the card by traditional suit rank: spade, heart, diamond, club in descending order. Again, I realize there is no difference, but it allows me to never second-guess why I made the choice and kick myself for making it.
Maybe this will help someone out there; I know it helps me.
Again, thanks for the nice words about Yogi!
