Lenny From wrote about the 6-7-8 Jokers in the early nineties. I remember cutting his strategy chart out of....I think it was Gaming Today. They had nickels in the Western down of 9th and Fremont. This was at a time when I still didn't know anything about video poker. But I remember seeing a quarter bank of 6-7-8 at Station Casino....and having to turn around and walk off because I didn't have the money to play.

And I just remembered that the bartops in the nightclub at Gold River were three coin jobs.

If I would have thought up what Bob did I would have done the same thing. And if I were the other player I would have thanked him for not letting me waste my time and money.

I put my share of time in on progressives and though I didn't keep maticulous records I feel like I came in right about where I was supposed to on royals. In towns like Laughlin I liked to just mosey around and make money, whether it was at video poker or advantage slots. I just put my time in every day and whatever happened happened. I was always playing with an edge. I had winning days and losing days and it all came out in the wash....in the long run. Here's a couple of sucdess stories at Gold River:

I was coming up the River Walk one day and ran into a bust out hustler in front of the Pioneer. He told me one of the Jakes Jacks slant tops at Gold River had a $3400 royal. I always gave the bustouts a $20 spiff for letting me know where a royal was up....if I could get a seat....plus a $100 tip if I got the royal.

I didn't figure to get a seat but we got there and a couple of seats were open. I hit the royal in about ten minutes. Everybody hit their cashout buttons and left....headed to another play I guess.

Another time I found the Jakes Jacks bartop royal up. It was at night, the band was playing. I was playing along and looking up at the band here and there. They were pretty good. So onetime I hit the deal/draw button and looked up at the band at the same time. When I looked back down I had a dealt royal locked in.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: From Where The Sun Now Stands

V.O. was my Dads drink of choice, along with Beer as a chaser ? I never got that one, maybe Mickey can shed some light. V.O. is very good with a light soda (for me, diet sprite)..if I were to drink a cocktail with whiskey, it's the only one that I can drink. All of the others burn too much !
Bacardi & Diet Dr Pepper has always been my favorite or a shot of bacardi...However, in the past 2 years, I may have consumed in total 2 cups? of alcohol. It is hard to time between Morphine..lol.

V.O. Whiskey is made by Seagram's. V.O stands for very old....like me. It's ten year old Canadien booze. All bars carry it. I've been trying hard, but after about 5 days on the wagon I can't stand myself. I got too much blood in my alcohol stream. I start feeling to good and the next thing I know I'm back in a dive bar.

I joke to people that my I.Q. goes about about 10 points with every drink. After 5 or six shots I'm the world's foremost authority....on any subject. You know, I had no trouble walking away from cocaine 32 years ago. But booze and cigarettes? That's a tough one.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 25 JAN 2011

This article is a great example of how far some players will go to win a tournement or competition. Reminds me of players hanging out at 10pm waiting for a amex card promo at the hrh a couple of years ago. i think one was Bob. Players were scared that someone would take their machine and were willing to wait hours until midnight.

Actuallly, that's really a phone charge for unlimited local calling rather than a resort fee. They charge you $1 a day. Probably isn't a better deal in town.

Yeah, we got the drift when you said he was "tormenting her".

lol I don't where you got that from in the article. Frankly, your interpretation is a little bizarre.

I just read the Dancer column on 1/25 about the points promo at M. It doesn't sound like Bob 'tormented' Joyce at all. In fact, he probably saved her some money. Bob wanted to win the tourney, nothing wrong with that. Joyce was his main competition and Joyce sounded like she was perfectly willing to take second place.

Bob could have just played and not told her what he was doing. Joyce would have put a lot more money at risk and still would have wound up in second place. He didn't prevent her from playing. He just said if you play, I'll play too.

I don't see the torment in that action.

[vpFREE] More High Rollers than Us Regular Guys

I posted the other day that Stations was ending the Senior Wed. Deals.
I thought this might generate some conversation. But, as I see Mr. Dancers quest to win a Land Rover, a very practical car for Las Vegas seem to be effect more people.
Just seems odd to me, but what do I know.
