[vpFREE] Re: Vegas Revenge - Part 2 the Sequel 3: Avenged

I'll ad my two cents to the tale of an AT hold...
I was playing a nickle triple play STP, and I actually WANTED to hold the AT, and for some reason the 10 didn't "stick", hit draw and up popped KQJ...i immediately called a slot tech, and had them run the hand back and sure enough the button was kinda "iffy" (when you play fast, you have a very light keystroke), my luck it was a 3x multiplier (STP remember)...my host also came over to confirm the $600 payout...
Pretty pointless royal...as I stepped it up to 25c, and managed to quickly lose $400 of it back...

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. I used to always hold AT
suited and I have hit a couple royals but after playing so much of the VPD
simulators I thought the smart money said throw away thw ten. Never again!

Thanks again.

Harry,

Of course you know this. However, maybe it would have been
more clear to have used a stronger word than probably. I have
seen RGN estimates of 100,000 or more outcomes in just one
second. Obviously just a blink means many different outcomes,
much less the time it takes to make a different hold. Just
a hard concept to handle for some of us when seeing certain
final results!

The other answers are also good and to the point for specific
strategy changes that might have pertained to this specific
situation.

Obviously throwing away a ten eliminated any possibility of
royal on that hand. It is just hard to keep in things in
perspective when looking backwards. Also, some people just
do not want to throw away the ten even if it means losing
less in the long run.

I am not adding anything new here unless it is directed to
those of us how have a hard time believing how little control
we have over final results.

Bob

:Anytime if there is a possiblity of a charge to your Reward Credits you should always inquire with your host and verify. Assuming you will receive a comp from an employee at the spa or even a 7* star memo is never a guarantee. Some things slip through the crack and are just missed and a pain to get the credits back at times. But I would have believed at 7* level a spa would have been comped witout issue. Then again you verify and hopefully no issues.

[vpFREE] Re Bob Dancer's comments on spa confusion in AC

I and some other 7* members heard about this at the last minute. My host was unavailable. I went to the spa itself and POLITELY asked them. They seemed to think it was a 7* benefit for all, as I did, and I didn't realize one needed to get a comp in advance. In Biloxi u go directly to the spa, and u don't need an advance comp, so that is what I thought it was. The spa called somewhere and APPROVED the comp and we got product...no time for a treatment. At the time it seemed the spa was getting approval for a 7* quarterly benefit, but in hindsight I don't know that's what they did, they may have just taken points from my account.

I was upset however that hosts had never mentioned this in advance, because I'd paid for a treatment with my comps the previous day, and other 7* people were also upset when they learned of this at the last minute, some able to call a host, some not. By the way domestic hosts seem to be unavailable after 9 pm at Caesars.

After returning home I found out there was even more confusion about this benefit.

Now after correspondence with a VP and my host, I find that some 7* do get the quarterly benefit and some don't. The hosts in AC call it a 7* benefit, but it isn't really . Some 7* who have AC as primary place don't get it, most do, and apparently some who don't have AC as primary property also get it.

All extremely confusing. I have now been told I did qualify for it. If so, I still don't know why I was never told of it by AC hosts. I only heard of it by word of mouth.

As for complaining about stuff on VPFree.... Yes, isn't that what this forum is for? To complain about the bad and to say good things about the good? I've done both.

I don't appreciate's Bob's insinuation, or implication, if u read between the lines of his posts that I wasn't polite to Harrahs personnel at all times; he tried to say that if u ask for things with sugar u are more likely to get them than if u ask with complaints...good advice...but the implication was that I personally hadn't gotten the spa benefit because I'd been impolite. All totally untrue. And Bob's post defintely seemed a pointed barb at me which I do not appreciate.

My initial point re the spa benefit, which Bob and others missed, and maybe I didn't communicate it well, is, if some people qualify for a benefit but no one ever tells u about it, then u don't even know to ask for it, so you can never politely (or impolitely) ask a host for it! So no matter how polite u are, u can't ask anyone for the benefit, and u are never going to get it, because u don't know it exists in the first place!

When I stayed at the Four Queens, usually three days at a time, I would buy the wi-fi for one 24 hour period, usually on the second day. For ten bucks I didn't have to lug the laptop around downtown.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember a Bob Dancer article about him incorrectly holding an Ace-Ten and coming up with a royal. I think the theme of the article was about always fully reading the rules of a promotion. He was thinking he was gonna get double-paid for the royal, something like that. But it turned out that only a certain suit got double paid-and Bob's royal wasn't in that suit. I don't know that I have the facts exactly right here, but what was funny was while he was waiting on the hand pay some other pros came along and Bob had to suffer through them having some fun at his expense. Something about Bob Dancer, video poker writer/theorist, making a wrong hold.

That's it exactly--I don't use it except when I'm in Vegas, so I had to check--would probably download the database from home, because I think it is quite large, and my device doesn't allow cellular roaming. As the Queen of Comps might say

"free is good"
