Re: [vpFREE] Re: El Cortez ATM Promotion

When I was there last January, I had $10.00 of free play. I used this on some 5 cent slant tops, that were in the section of the casino in between the table games and the classic slot area. I believe I played 9/5 or 8/5 ddb. Not sure if it had higher denominations.

What is the best play that will ACCEPT the free play? No VP machines that I know of will accept it.

Unless this free play promo is different than the free play I get on my monthly offer, you can use them on any machine with a reader and a keypad for entering the PIN. I've used them at all the bartops to play 8/5 bonus poker.

[vpFREE] Re: Looking for suggestion on tax prep data entry

All the IRS is interested in is the total dollar amount of W2Gs matches their figure. If you miss one you can be pretty sure you will hear from the IRS. There are high limit players in Las Vegas that hundreds and hundreds of W2G's. The IRS doesn't expect you to enter each one individually. The computers just compare the total. Turbotax which I have used for years is dumb software program. It is designed for the casual gambler who has one or two W2G's a year.

NeilG wanted to know if anybody has seen a bank ATM in a casino. I have in AC. Both Wells Fargo and PNC have ATMs
in the Atlantic City casinos and don't charge their customers to use them. BOA might also have ATMs in a casino, I'm
not sure.

I'm pretty sure all that information you are typing in tediously isn't even
sent to the IRS. I just put the total under "other gambling income" and have
never had a problem.

Earlier this month, just finished 2011 taxes (yes, 2011).

Use Turbotax & always have had a lot of W2Gs to post so I wait till the
local IRS office gets their run (around July) & then ask them to run what
they have in their computer. Then match all those up to what I have just in
case I lost one or some casino reports something that I didn't know about.

Anyway, posting all that in Turbotax is tedious so created a spreadsheet
with the casinos that I frequent & info that normally appears, namely,
name, address, etc., tax ID #. Then I copy & paste which is the fastest
way I've found so far. Even doing it this way it still takes quite a bit of
time.

Has anybody been able to do this more efficiently?

I wish Turbotax had a ditto feature so that info could be copied from the
previous entry. Anybody know how to do that?

The best I've been able to come up with is to enter the info in Notepad, and then copy & paste into H&R Block, which is the program I use.

[vpFREE] Re: I got scammed

Since I don't subscribe to the digest anymore, waited till I got home
before I saw the messages. The following is for clarification or my viewpoint.

1. There is no $500 bonus as far as I know. But I played even though I
was pretty sure there wasn't one.

2.
"I don't like the idea of calling security because you fell for the oldest
trick
in the book. This guy didn't do anything wrong. It's not a scam I would
pull
because I don't have any charisma but I don't have any moral issues with
it."
>>>

Everybody has their own set of values. Even the hustlers. Years ago, my son
was chased off a banking slot by a man yelling at him. Surprisingly,
nearby hustlers urged us to call Security & report him because what he did was
bad for the long-term health of the play.

I wasn't upset by being the "mark" because I did keep him occupied for 2
hours & I accomplished my "points" goal at the Palms. Losing a few hundred
didn't motivate me to do anything. What motivated me was what I read on the
Internet.

3.
"yes, you did the right thing notifying security. New facial recognition
systems, can ID any scammer or 86d player within 30 seconds. I was with a
scammer friend of mine at the D, and within 30 seconds on entering 2
security guards came over and pointed to the door. They left me alone when
I
pulled a Judas and said "Im not with him ".
>>>

I hope you're right. I gave Security all the details so they could look up
them up on the video. Not to get ethnic but the original approach was by a
white guy with a New York accent and the clean up guys were two
innocent-looking blacks. I was slow on the uptake but I kept him occupied for 2 hrs
because his clean-up guys took so long to get there & I got a little revenge
by taking out all the high-denomination multipliers on one machine before I
would leave but they got the other machine. I really like the guy so that
was part of the reason I got taken. Have to admit I still do but I'll
report him anyway!

Years ago when Bellagio had banking slots, hustlers would aggressively
hover over you while you ran out of money. A Chinese couple was very aggressive
one time. So I played the game of pulling out progressively smaller bills
until I used them up then I had to pull out hundreds. Kept them hovering
for over an hour & if looks could kill.....

4.
"---Exactly!! I've heard about the scam numerous times and been approached.
My same question was why would anyone leave big multipliers on the screen
for the next hand for someone else to play?? Unless you just didn't
understand the game at all and got duped. but really?? I know Glenn is a
smart player. Just seemed odd to me.

Scot"

>>>
Thanks for your faith, Scot. The line was you had to switch every few hands
& play every game on the screen in order to turn on the $500 bonus & if
it didn't come on, cash out & it carries over to the next machine (yeah, I
was reeeaaally stupid). I didn't have any drinks but I was intrigued and
then there's greed :)

5.
"Thanks for your honest reply on this forum and good luck with your
criminal
career."

>>>
LOL

6. What you post on any forum is a reflection of yourself. From the posts
you find like-minded people and those who you wouldn't trust your pet cobra
with. I left another forum years ago due to "moral" discussions which
resulted in strong disagreement and a lot of noise. I don't want that to happen
here even though I don't subscribe I like to contribute when I think it's
useful.

Since I started this thread, can I ask everyone to agree to disagree on
morals and get back to objective statements?

Thank you

[vpFREE] Re: El Cortez ATM Promotion

We generally try to find a bar top dollar video blackjack machine to play the freeplay through once. It's a much lower variance play than any VP game, and you can generally get a free drink in the process.

I've done this many times and almost always come out within a few dollars of the freeplay amount.

The crux of the disagreement is that you view causing an event and observing an event is the same thing and no one else makes these 2 equal.

If you observe someone beating someone else to death and you don't help, that is way different that beating that person to death yourself. If your arguement is that either way the person is dead so they must be equal, then does it follow that any time 2 actions have the same outcome, they are equivalent? I don't see how that makes any sense.

I haven't seen the logic in your statement yet. Maybe you state what your definition of 'morally equivalent' means. Also, you might want to define what you mean by moral. I think we are using different definitions.
