Hi Gang:
A pair of close friends of ours accomplished something over the past couple of weeks at Harrah's Atlantic City that is absolutely mind-boggling.
The wife, a lifelong friend of Hedy (they grew up in Brooklyn together), started things off when she made a truly spectacular hit. Playing the triple-line, joker poker quarter progressive machines, she was dealt the five aces for a $98,000 jackpot!!
ONE WEEK later, playing the same bank of machines, she again was dealt the five aces for just over $50,000! What was startling about this was the fact that just minutes before the jackpot was hit for $66,000 on a machine a few feet away from where she was playing!
But this amazing couple was not done yet.
The next evening, her husband came over to where she was playing and told her he thought it was time for them to call it a night.
She wanted to play for a few more minutes, so he stuck in a $100 bill and started to play next to her. After about 10 minutes, with $33 left in his bank, HE was dealt the five aces for a $54,000 hit!!
UNREAL! AMAZING! UNBELIEVABLE! But true!
We love these two and are thrilled for them, but would love for a little bit of that luck to rub off on us!
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy

[vpFREE] Cruise rooms

I've learned my lesson after a couple of noisy rooms -- always look at the map and don't book a room under the buffet, ice cream machine (kids running to get there), next to theater, under lounges with music. Unfortunately on our free 7 star Breakaway cruise we had an aft cabin with great aft view (assigned to us). Should have been great but parties on the deck (at least 4 levels above) had loud music pumping out at night that floated to aft cabins. We were able to complain and get $100 credit.

My advice is if you know for sure in advance of possible problem, try to switch, even if going from a minisuite to regular balcony. If u cannot change, once onboard at first sign of noise, complain and complain to higher ups, Hotel manager. NCL now has a suggestion box by info desk that goes to hotel manager and seems to have faster results....but phone him!

I don't see why they would charge u more for downgrading room in advance...again, speak to a supervisor and Stress any status u have as a Harrahs guest, Casino player, latitudes member, etx.

This may be good basic info for some players, but it can be dangerous for others, especially those who do not have strong self-control/self-discipline.  And many times, there will be factors that will require that a wise player stop a session even though they don't "want" to leave or they don't "want" to do anything else.  I cover many of these reasons in a discussion called "When to Walk."  (http://jscott.lvablog.com/?p=3270)

[vpFREE] Re: NCL Star Review and LAX limo company

Joining in with becksam's excellent advice ...

We tend to upgrade to a mini-suite (Deck 11 on the Jewel class ships) and our first assignment was beneath the pool deck, adjacent to the fitness room.  Nothing like being awakened by screeching deck chairs being arranged in the morning, "lulled" during the day by a rhythmic beat from the fitness room, and "cajoled" to sleep by one of their pool party bands.  (Most noise was reasonably muted, but annoying in aggregate.)

Ever since, we've consulted the website for likely available cabins with the best position on the ship.  Our favorite has been forward starboard, directly under the library.

That's the best advice I've seen here on this subject, and it's why Optimum Video Poker includes the Sorokin risk of ruin calculation as well as a feature to evaluate a casino by how you value its slot club, offers, promotions, etc. -- Dan Paymar, developer of "Optimum Video Poker" software Visit my web site at http://www.OptimumPlay.com "Chance favors the prepared mind" ~ Louis Pasteur

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Circus Circus video blackjack

Note: On "Shufflemaster" the cards are reshuffled after every hand. Also some states require that each position have exactly the same odds on video BJ so in those states, the machine uses a different six deck shoe for each player and also the dealer. Shackleford discusses the affect of this at his "Wizard of Odds" website. (Hint: It is not good for the players!)

i have NEVER seen VBJ in ac, except for the worthless 7 hand at once machines at the Taj thats not worth playing because the BJ pays EVEN MONEY. but i have seen the 3-2 VBJ machines at Parx made by shufflemaster.

anyone know of any newly installed dealers angels VBJ machines either in or outside vegas? not the ones in Jean or in a few vegas MGM properties i already know about. i know of lots of shufflemaster machines, in AZ, deadwood, laughlin, arkansas, etc, most of which arent worth playing due to not being able to see the shuffle point and comp rates which suck.

dont worry about me, im no threat, im looking for ones to grind out free rooms only and spread bets of $1-25 3 hands each. certainly not enough to be a threat or have the casino take them out. id gladly pay a small fee on paypal to find some dealers angels.

We've been through this "argument" many times., i.e., entertainment vs. business, They are both valid reasons for doing one's "vp thing".  To each his own.  Have fun your own way!  (I guess I am wasting time and energy even saying this....again!)

wow thanks all for the incredible feedback...  my friends who play still think they're getting "entertainment value" or some such diddly squat.  there's just no way to get through to them it's serious business

my personal experience is that i lose about 30% every turnover while i'm waiting to hit... that's a lot of money.  it's even worse when i'm in California and playing at 8/5 progressives.  seriously, video poker there used to give up four four-of-a-kinds a night, and now i'm lucky to hit even one.  i'm thinking that indian reservations are like cruise ships.  the same technology that allows the casino to deny a royal if the bank already gave up too much, is used to deny ordinary low-value wins at indian reservations.  ouch i got scalped!!!!
