[vpFREE] XVP: Palms

I am sure every one is tired of the drama. FWIW, I stayed
on a comp(reserved before the carnage and I paid for an airline
ticket on that basis before I knew). I did not play any VP at all. Other casinos got that action. What was the common information from my host and other employees is the valet entrance area is to be turned into a lobby entrance area like Cosmo to improve ambiance.(withhold laughter for that one). There was so much empty wood they should have opened a 3 lane bowling alley.

I encourage every one to write to the manager Frank posted:

Todd Simons Executive VP of Casino Operations:

"Pertaining to recent changes to your video poker inventory. Please place those slant-top machines removed from the front valet entrance some where else on the casino floor. Thank you for your time"

4321 West Flamingo Road
Las Vegas, NV 89103.

It almost makes sense(sorry skeptics). and it might possibly help.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Body Wear & Tear

We have found the best remedy to reduce body wear and tear is to reduce the
amount of time we play. We don't play every day. We like to have a lot of
"rest" days. And particularly we mostly play short sessions - one or two
hours at a time. After two hours, we both get weary and the fun factor
decreases dramatically. If for some reason we want to play more in one
day, we will take naps and/or exercise between sessions.

Old age is not for sissies!!!!!

[vpFREE] Re: Body Wear & Tear

It doesn't make sense to me to do ANYTHING that even slightly harms oneself when one has a choice. Most people lose playing vp anyway, and I don't see making a small income at it worth what's being traded for playing. I agree there's far worse things for your health than sitting at a vp machine, but when someone like Coach comes on a forum to air his issues then I have to believe he's looking for solid advice leaning towards how he can keep playing while mitigating his problem--and I don't believe that's possible.

Why even fool with playing VP if it's hurting your health? There are other

I'm 64 & have been down this road several years ago. My career involved a

lot of computer work & typing on keyboards though not constantly as in data

entry. So when I began feeling the pain I researched it & realized it's a

lot like carpal tunnel that data entry folks get. I do play intense

sessions that may last up to 24 hrs which sounds long but I have a lot of breaks.

When I was younger my sessions used to be much longer & even more intense

before I realized that it wasn't worth the damage to my health. The ultimate

cure, for me, was just not playing & eventually everything returned to

normal. For me, this is easier than it is for locals as it's a 5 - 8 hr trip

to get to the casinos whereas locals would have the constant temptation of

things popping up all the time.

The Gold Coast also has (1) Bar Pool Table in the Red Zone Bar and a TGIFriday's is their upscale coffee shop.

My second job was as a bus boy in their coffee shop. The food was not good. Of course that was 24 years ago. I have eaten in their Chinese recently and loved it. However the new Cathy house at the palms across the street I think is better and better priced. I have not done a straight across comparison so this is just opinion.

Re: [vpFREE] Not a topic about a half million dollar jackpot

The gold coast has an excellent vp selection - walk around you will find
some nice ones. If your a nickel player, there are many progressives to
choose from. For food I like the buffet ( better than the Palms buffet ) and
the Ping Pang Chinese restaurant. Its really one of the better ones in town.
The bowling is really good with special discounts for seniors.
best...Tom

That said, my normal sessions are from 2 - 8 hrs & I still have fun since
it's not the grind that it becomes if you play constantly. Here's a few
things I do which may help you:

--Avoid progressives unless it's really good. Long sessions aren't worth it
for marginal payoffs.
--Maybe every 15 - 20 minutes, change positions, focus your eyes on
something that's far away (to avoid eyestrain) & remember to blink or use eye
drops.
--I'll often stand up so that the pronation angle is changed, often to a
more comfortable angle. Another benefit is that it's better than sitting down
constantly.
--Stay home more often or do something outside of gambling. This gives the
body the chance to heal & recharges your mental batteries.
--While playing, always have something to drink & snack on but in
moderation. It's best for diabetics or to avoid becoming one.
--What price would you put on losing your sight? How about your hands? I
wouldn't part with either for any price but who are doing it for quarter
progressives.
