I just checked my gambling logs (spreadsheet variety).
In 1996, I played a $5 progressive Jake's at Binions.

[vpFREE] Re: Favorite Machine
Haha, I did the same thing almost.
Went in to Silver Legacy in Reno one night, just because they have comfy chairs and stiff drinks.
Plopped down on a Full-Pay Joker Poker, playing 1 quarter at a time (minimum and SLOW) to get my drink...what happens? DEALT quints...doh!
Considering I put in a $5 and hit a $62.50 payout, I was happy.
Re: [vpFREE] Favorite Machine
Ha, I forgot that one.
But that reminds me that one night, about 2:30AM at Caesars in AC, we were dying
for a nightcap. No waitresses were around where we'd been playing, but we saw
one across the floor going into a station. We parked ourselves at two NB quarter
machines and each threw in an Andy. We caught her eye on the way out and
ordered. While we waited for her to return with the drinks, the bride hit a $300
jackpot. Boy, did that Grand Marnier taste even better than usual

I'm ashamed to admit I don't know what V.O. is? So it appears Mickey has additional skills I lack. I certainly wouldn't challenge him to a drinking contest.
Take it easy there old boy, drinking killed my mother in the end, vpFREE wouldn't be the same without you.

No I'm sorry, you're close though. Jake's Jacks paid 400 on 4 Jacks. It was not exactly the same as Aces Faces and was unique to the Gold River in Laughlin. It also came in 3 coin verity.

Hi Frank,
I'm sure that you're correct and I defer to your superior knowledge of the game called "Jake's Jacks" or "Jack's Jacks". However, I was responding to gambOOler's post below, not the original post.

Re: [vpFREE] Favorite Machine
"Favorite" machines can be ones that you've hit for big paydays, but there are
other factors that can make a machine a favorite, depending on your preferences.
An aisle machine, one that has a column behind it, one in a more secluded area,
one that is away from a main pedestrian walkway, one without a draft, or away
from blowing smoke, or one that has no annoying loud machines around it - any of
these things can creat a more comfortable environment to play in. And then, if
you do happen to hit on that machine, so much the better. But maybe the comfort
factor keeps away distractions, makes you play better and more accurately, and
maybe that's why you hit.
So who knows, what comes first, the comfort or the nest egg?
Certainly the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you; if you don't bet, you
can't win. -Lazarus Long
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice,
there is. -Yogi Berra
There is no such thing as luck. There is only adequate or inadequate preparation
to cope with a statistical universe. -Robert Heinlein

So lets say that you are playing a 9/6 JOB and all the machines in the area have
the same pay structure. Despite all machines having the same pay schedule. How
many people have their favorite machine(s) that they feel gives them more
action?
Now that I have been in Vegas just over 2 months I have found my self slipping
into the favorite machine attitude. This morning I walked up to a bank of 6
machines and my "favorite machine" (because I have hit several 4 of a kinds on
it this month)was being used. I waited for a while but the person there was in
for the long hall. So I sat a different machine to get my points play for the
day. I walked out disappointed in my loss of $1(despite all the points that I
earned)and mumbled to myself if I was on my machine it would have been up, not
down. I sat in my car and laughed at myself. How do we get this way?

I've seen Super Double Double Bonus. It seems to have everything. Small quads with kickers, face cards with A,K,Q,J kicker, the works. And several different pay tables. It's fun too.

Shame on ME! My only excuse is that I had just taken the first sip of my morning coffee when I posted the above. This explains the extra "D" I put in Double Bonus! Dbl A&F is a variation of 9/7 DOUBLE Bonus, Not DDB. There are no additional kicker payoffs in the game.
