I'll say this without reading Bob's article first. I hibernated in Montana for ten years but that changed last year. I've been in most of the casinos from the northwest to the Mississippi River in the last year. The only areas in the west I haven't covered so far are Nevada (except for Wendover and Jackpot), California and Arizona.
One of the things I've seen is the ease with which freeplay is used today. I run action they send me a mailer telling me the freeplay is automatically downloaded on the card on the specified dates. No boothling to see, just go to a machine and download the freeplay.
I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that one could get their friends, family or whatever to sign up for the cards, then use their cards to run action, cutting a deal with them like "they get the comp, I get the freeplay." Something along those lines.
