I won't be going there for video poker, since I believe it has a payback around 92% like the other W. Va. casinos.

true. In theory EV% weaker but less volatile. At the Rivers they have 2c/5c
100 line that require at least 1 coin on every line along with awful pay
tables.

I have looked at some 50 and 100 play Quick Quads in another casino. It
seems like you can play any number of lines, even just one, just like 50 and
100 play machines without Quick Quads.

I have finished the scouting for the Rivers Casino. I have updated the
database including slot club and host info.

Best game by percentage is a 50 play $1/$2 Quick Quads with 9/6 DDB (99.65%)
but the strategy is quite tough, huge variance and big bankroll needed.

I suspect the benefits are not good enough to make this a positive play.

[vpFREE] Re: Graduating Paybacks on Slots

Yes, I realize that the RF and progressives require a higher bet but these are spelled out in plain view for anyone who cares to look. I was talking about a slot game where you may select 1X, 2X, 5X, or 10X the line bet for example. I thought that the payback% had to be identical for all multipliers of the line bet.

[vpFREE] Re: Main St Station Host

I use Ipo as my host at Main Street Station as I find their comping system wonderful. I have never tried to email any of the hosts there and I'll admit that few of them do not have much of a sense of humor, but as long as they continue to treat me as well as they do, I can put up with the lack of email response and bubbling personality from the club desk.

Something that I really like about Cal/Fremont/MSS is that their contests are not based on number of entries. The high roller has just as much a chance of winning a prize as does the mid level player. Also, I find the Pacific Islanders who play and work there much more friendly than the average Vegas Tourist. Plus, the discretionary comp is alive and well there. I can frequently get a second room for a guest or a food comp at the Redwood just for asking and it doesn't come off my point balance. Is it the smartest play from an EV standpoint? Absolutely not. But from a recreational/tourist play, it's awesome. Especially the fact that they have 9/6 JOB at the bar from quarters to dollars and they serve microbrews. Now if they could only raise the shower heads in the rooms a bit.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Graduating Paybacks on Slots

Been a standard feature on most slot machines for a very long time!

Think about the Royal Flush payback on video poker which basically was
"borrowed" from the slot machine practice of paying a bigger multiple on a
max coin bet.

Many video slots now have bonus progressives that can only be won by playing
max bet while playing for lesser bets causes bonus bets to be paid at fixed
multiples.

Also so called "buy a pay" slots may have a much greater shortfall when you
play less than max. A modern example is the original Wheel of Fortune slot
where if you played 1 or 2 coins, the "Spin" symbol on the 3rd reel would
win only 5 times your bet instead of the wheel spin which averaged 26 times
your bet.

"Comments please."

If you feel that a 98% (doubtful, but sure possible) slot machine is better
than a 99.54% (or greater) VP machine I'm not sure what other comment would
be helpful.

People play for different reasons... what's yours? Do what makes you happy,
seriously, but just don't expect logic to back it up. :)

BTW, the machine was "The Little Shop of Horrors" and I won $630 on a $2.50
bet, more than I've won with larger bets on VP in 2 1/2 years. It took 20
minutes for the bonus to playout. Needless to say, I'm even less inclined to
play VP now.
