Re: [vpFREE] XVP: No More Crab Legs at ANY Station Casino?
There was a sign at GVR saying that while they have the discounted price, they will not be serving crab legs.

Went to Santa Fe this past Friday expecting seafood night and all you
can eat crab legs. No dice! They were serving their regular crappy
buffet: no seafood night, no crab legs. Upon asking about it, I was
told that NO Station Casino has all you can eat crab legs anymore.
Can anyone confirm that this is the case, including GVR (who used to
have crab legs every day on the buffet)?
If so, then basically no reason to go to Stations anymore. :(

It is virtually impossible to convey to some non-gambler, especially a young one, how bad things can get. I think it is natural for someone to start off winning and think, "Oh, this is easy". And it don't matter how much you talk to them and warn them. It seems to just be human nature. One would really have to be rational and perceptive to go into it with no experience and accept your warning completely. They've got to go through it themselves.

trying to catch mistakes made in the casino environment but not made at home on winpoker, for example missing some flush draws due to distracting spot lights

[vpFREE] Charting Machines
Hi - I started making notes of my big wins long time again so not sure it is
"charting machines". I use this info as reference to when I won, where I won
it, and how much I won - noting the denomination, type of machine and where
located. It helps me define my gambling a little bit instead of a random hit
here and there. Then I have a "story" to tell my gambling friends when I get
home - I usually go to my nearby casinos - 4 Winds in New Buffalo, MI and Blue
Chip, Michigan City, In. I haven't had anyone talk to me about taking/making
notes - altho they might be wondering what I am writing down. Babs
[vpFREE] Questions on Charting
From time to time, I see people charting video poker machines. Usually , they secretly mark a notepad when they get a good hand, or a near miss on straights or higher. Considering this activity does generate heat from management ( they dont like people playing VP with pen and pencil in hand ) I'd like somebody to speak up on why this is still a worthwhile activity. Possible benefits are:
a. check if machine is random
b. try to find a machine A hotter than machine B
c. try to determine if machine A generates more slot points than machine B
d. try to justify's one's total EV ( ie. I'm 10% down for the year because I did not get my fair share of ducks )
what am I missing by not charting ?
thanks in advance....Tom

Had another successful low-roller trip to Vegas.
My daughter and son-in-law wanted to come so my wife booked a room at Fitz for them & I got a room at 4 Queens for us. I had selfishly bought my daughter the Winpoker app for her iPad (which is great) and told her to learn bonus poker because they have plenty at Fitz, it's easy to learn, and you can win a free steak dinner with every quad on a certain machine. I figured that would save me money or comps by not paying for all of their meals and sure enough, she won 5 dinners the first day.
My wife & I played the coin-in DB at Fitz Monday morning and I hit 12 quads including the aces once, which put us up by $1000 on day one. I don't think I've ever hit that many quads in such a short period before so it was pretty fun. I'm used to playing TITO now, so I forgot how much fun it was to see the coins spill out and what a pain it is to wait for the hopper to be filled & carry the buckets to the cashier.
My daughter had enough steak dinners so he moved up to the TITO machines next to our DB and hit a royal right off the bat. I couldn't have planned her week any better. I think she's hooked on vp now.
I mainly played the DB at 4 Queens the rest of the week and did pretty well but my wife could not hit anything there.
On Wednesday, we drove out to Rampart because my wife loves the casino and the 10-play nickel super aces. She put $20 in, got dealt 3 aces and hit the quad on one line. Then she was dealt the AK of clubs and hit a royal. She cashed out at $250 and I came out $50 ahead after finally hitting the aces once.
My wife & I came out a few hundred ahead for the week, but never hit a royal other than the nickel one. My daughter kept hitting quads on all the bonus poker at Fitz and came home with a lot more money than she took.
I complain about how the vp benefits are so much less than they used to be, but I just have a hard time going anywhere else for vacation when we get free rooms, free food, free play, and cash back. And, of course, for some reason I just love playing vp too. As soon as I got home I was playing on my iPad.
