[vpFREE] Re: Dealt sequential royal

There are 311,875,200 ways to deal out 5 cards from a 52-card deck.
(52 * 51 * 50 * 49 * 48 = 311,875,200)

4 of those ways are sequential RF's running from 10 to Ace.

So the odds are 4/311,875,200 which is very close to 1 in 78 million.

Re: [vpFREE] Silverton Mailer - Special Bonus Offer

Same thing happened to me, mine was $750 for 10000 and reduced to $75 for 1000. I don't think it was a misprint, they just somehow didn't realize how vulnerable they were with the first offer.

Mrs. Don received a mailer from Silverton offering $500 in free play for earning 10,000 points for each week in August. That's a 5% return!! I asked the boothlings if I also got the mailer (I did not get a postcard, but Mrs. Don and I play at the same level) and they said no I did not. It was worth a try!

She put the 10,000 points on her card by Tuesday or Wednesday, went to the kiosk to swipe and the $500 in free play was there. (I had some misgivings, as this offer seemed too good to be true.)

She received another postcard yesterday that showed a "revised special bonus offer". The new offer is now $50 in free play for 1,000 points for the last three weeks of the month. Its still a 5% offer, but with reduced coin-in.

The new mailer also stated "The first postcard you received contained errors and this is your corrected offer. We apologize for any inconvenience."

I applaud Silverton for honoring the original offer of $500 in free play. I'm sure some other casinos would have used the "management reserves all rights" clause to get out of giving the free play.

[vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LVA - 5 AUG 2014

The added detail is very helpful Bob.

FWIW, I'm fairly certain that the casino coding of the charge is what makes the difference here (not the credit card used).  Generally speaking, it would be to the casino's advantage to code the transaction as a cash advance, since it would avoid merchant fees otherwise incurred on purchase transactions.  (This is why there's a 3% fee typically levied against the cardholder on cash advance transactions.)

I can only assume that, at casinos such as Atlantis, card charges to repay credit lines is a relatively infrequent activity and they've opted to keep things "simple" (my guess is that such treatment is contrary to their merchant agreement).

This may very well be true elsewhere ... perhaps even LV.  Assuming they don't make you take a separate cash advance through the standard cashier terminal mechanism, I suppose a direct repayment transaction might be coded as a purchase.  Guess I'm getting a little too "programmed" to anticipate the worst ;)

The odds of a dealt royal, assuming no extra wild cards, is 1 in
649,740. The odds of a royal being in the sequence you described is 1
in 120. I saw one of these, although I can't remember which sequence
it was in.
