Could you elaborate? You usually have many references.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Ace Play ?

Don, I got the next 3 month mailer today with the same free play on it, so good
now thru June,  I go to Aquarius in August for the 3 Card Poker Tournament.
What are my chances of the free play being good the next quarter with no play in
between?

Thanks,
Caroline

[vpFREE] NOLA Trip Report - vp: groups

As a frequent reader, but rare contributor, I've learned so much since joining acvpp, vpFree and harrahscasinos. Prior to 2004 I never played poker so you can imagine the learning curve I had. I've vicariously shared your vp experiences- the rush of a RF and frustration of dry spells.

While in New Orleans, I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting a few members! I've always thought this was an interesting and informative group, based on the kind and patient responses to my newbie questions. However, finally meeting real people was a thrill and they were so wonderfully nice! Special "hi" to former Bklyn gal and Wife Two!

Harrah's VP - played DW in high limit area and 9/6 DDB scattered about (near Poker room).Unfortunately, my first time playing Quick Quads was rather addictive (ditto first time with M/S and 5 play M/S.) Fun game but without those quads and occasional aces a real money-eater

Very impressed with Harrah's handling of drinks and jackpots. The push button beverage service was so great! Much more civilized and efficient then yelling out (by patrons and waitress) and hit or miss approach in AC. Also loved the low-keyed response to jackpots and hand-pays. Unfortunately this was an observation and not first-hand knowledge….staff come, get paperwork and re-set the machine so you can continue playing while waiting for your cash. In AC, the few times I had won, the machine had prolonged loud and ringing or incessant music making sure that everyone knew you hit. It gets embarrassing as you stay close to the noisy machine and people come to look and comment (some unsavory characters continue to hang around.)

The heck with Mardri Gras, go to New Orleans for the FOOD! We thought the five "must haves" were fabulous. We had po-boys, jambalaya, shrimp gumbo at Mother's down the block from Harrah's. We went there several times and attempted to try everything on the menu. We went to Central Grocery for Muffalelttas and Café du Monde for beignets (note: if line is too long go to the Take Out in back also, the bathrooms are filthy dirty) Best steak, soup and succulent shrimp at Besh restaurant in casino. Next trip lunch at Commander's with .25 martinis?

Only tourist thing we did was the St. Charles streetcar (get on first stop at Carondelet at Canal if you want a seat) walked around French Quarter few daylight hours and Saturday evening saw the Krewe due Vieux parade.
Had a wonderful time, thanks to the suggestions of this group. Wanted to make this a short report so hope it was somewhat coherent.
Again, thanks everyone. Best regards,
Karen

[vpFREE] Re: New to Station Comps Any Rhyme Or Reason?

Is the "Gold" you refer to a Gold meal comp card like Main Street Station uses? If so they do want to see a daily average maintained at Gold level if you are staying in the hotel and using the comp card. Have you talked with a host about this? A host may be able to ignore the days you were not staying in the hotel and issue a Gold card during your next stay. I would think any play you did in Indiana would have no impact.

Good Luck

Very insightful of you to ask. Beginning to know me are you?

No, I was ahead about $5,000 when I backed out of the BJ play. $1200 a hand was simply outside my comfort level. It had little to do with my results at the time. I try never to included results in any decision about gambling I make.

When I say, "loses" what I really mean is "potential loses". The worry should have been in advance of playing.

This may have been the exception, but if anything, what made me nervous was the quick win. It was my first exposure to BJ fluctuation. I know the math says in BJ the swings can go both ways with equal speed, and I didn't want to wait for the other shoe to drop. Besides I didn't need the money, and the EV/Stress trade was a poor one.

Oh & BTW: Backing out cost me roughly $8,800 in additional profit (my share of an 8-way split). But I slept easier giving it up.

I believe pro gambling should be a 0% stress job, or get a different job. I have failed in keeping it 0%, but it has still been FAR less stressful than anything else I've done.

My current stress level is approximately 7.34792%.

Don't ask how I calculate that? (its stressful)

Frank's Reply: No not quite. That was true for some of my career, but that wasn't what I meant. Even when I was "the money man" and operating a small 12 person team, I never worried about winning/losing. Just, is the progressive up?

I don't think you realize what a slam dunk playing high progressives was. When I ran my small team, our minimum edge was around 4%. Even if we ran bad, it usually just meant breaking even. 4% was our starting number. More commonly I waited for 6-8%.

Breaking even is annoying, but not terribly stressful.

Only once in my entire career did I worry about losses, and I immediately backed out of the play. It's in the book.

Would you believe I was talking to a casino manager about just that not two days ago. I will indeed begin working on this.

I don't think Casinos even know that the teams are gone or why they are gone. We will endeavor to enlighten them.

Worst case it's revenue neutral to the casino, except having a 1% meter generates more play than having the 1% in the base return, which generates more revenue for the casino. Similarly promotion dollars are probably better spent in sweetening progressive jackpots to stimulate competitive action rather than just handing out cash to players on the hopes that they might play. Gamblers are gamblers, they're much happier with a juicier jackpot to go after than a handout.)

A word (or two) of caution

Coupon states it is valid between 12:01am-11:59PM, but must be presented
to B Connected Club prior to playing to earn the multiplier. Club doesn't
open until 7am
