RE: [vpFREE] Re: Scratch & Sniff -- Gambling with an Edge

Knowledge is a powerful tool. I cannot thank Jean, Bob or Frank enough.

I always knew that there must be a way to exploit casinos and I wouldn't have know how to without these purveyors of info.

Frank,

Please don't let a few comments keep you from posting here. You are a

breath of fresh air and have added much (info and humor) to this board.

People need to learn how to hit delete or just not open posts that they are not

interested in. Tolerance is a virtue to be treasured here b/c we are a

community of varied interests and temperaments. I, for one, would be

disappointed to have you curtail posts that are much more interesting and

informative than the usual drivel we keep recycling.

[vpFREE] In response to your emails

I was trying to avoid superfluous posts for awhile, but I've been getting an influx of supportive emails from my vpFREE friends asking me to stand up for myself and chastising my detractors. I have to nip this in the butt before my in-box fills up.

First: Thanks to all my fans for your support. Here it might be misguided.

Second: Thanks to all my non-fans for your opinions. I believe you have right on your side.

Here's my reply and I hope this puts an end to it.

In support of my detractors: When you are right you are right. I thought I was posting a bit much. Bob thought I was posting a bit much. The only people that didn't "seem" to think I was posting too much was vpFREE. Every time I would post something, I would get a barrage of private emails praising my posts, or asking for even more information. Those of you that didn't like them, were as silent as the grave. This generated a informational bias, which always leads to bad decisions.

Now look at this from my POV:
1. I post something
2. I get a ton of positive emails, thanks and requests for more
3. I never hear the opposing side because everyone else is silent
4. I come to the false conclusion I should post more

I thought I was giving people what they were asking for and wanted. Nothing more nothing less. I'm a gamma dog, and I like it that way.

To my supporters, try to see this from my detractors POV. They see me posting all the time. They don't see all the private emails you are sending me, and they naturally think the worst. It's a very understandable conclusion given their incomplete information.

THE RESOLUTION: From now on I will try to keep my volume of posts down to a more reasonable level and focus on more important gambling issues...and I'll leave the daily stuff to others.

I have to post about the radio-show anyway, that should be more than enough of my silly irreverent dialogue for one week.

If anyone has a question just for me, send it just to me.

I also reserve the right to use vpFREE to ask questions myself. My myopic career as a progressive pro has left huge gapping holes in my knowledge set that need plugging.

Summed up, I promise not to post more than Mickey:) He's your alpha dog and he's a better all around pro than I am.

Most sincerely,

~FK

P.S. Now if you'd like to respond to this, email me so I don't have to post more about how I'm posting less. Irony is ironic enough as it is.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: XVP - Derby Picks...Animal Kingdom

In fact the top Beyer figure horse is almost always the favorite. I
bought Beyer's first book when it came out. Those were the days. I made my own
Beyer figures for New York and all the tracks that shipped in. I lived
like a monk for a couple of years but had a very successful run,

Now one of the ways you can make money is pickling winners in races where
the beyers aren't as predictive.
Turf Sprints and turf races in general. Races with unusual pace
scenario's etc. The game is constantly changing, and you have to change with it.
What worked thirty years loses money today.

When Beyer speed figures were first published in The Racing Times, around
1990 if I recall, one could do quite well with that information if you were
familiar with how figures work. Within a year or two, Daily Racing Form
bought out their competition, and nowadays these figures are incorporated in
the Racing Form, where everyone and their brother can see them and use
them. The high-figure horse in 1990 that went off at 3 to 1, would today go
off at 6-5.

It's not just enough to have a good methodology, you've got to have one
that is not popular.

[vpFREE] Bob and Frank's new Progressives

I know the vp administrator will eventually post a link to the latest Bob Dancer article, but it's already up and I couldn't wait. It's probably the most interesting news about video poker that has come up in quite a while. Check it out, it's going to be at the M Resort.

http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/bob_dancer/2011/0510.cfm

I am anxious to hear this being discussed. I am also anxious to see it get going, and then being discussed. Should be interesting to read comments about it now, and then compare with comments in a few weeks from now, after some folks have had a good opportunity to get pummeled playing 16-13 deuces. lol

I applaud the effort by Bob & Frank, and look forward to playing at The M. Bravo!

[vpFREE] Fwd: Its Alarming !

Subject: Its Alarming !

GREETINGS

I had spent part of the morning having a rep explain to me unconvincing why Harrahs Resort in AC would try to lure someone who puts at least a quarter of a million dollars in a VP machine annually with a ten dollar guarantee if I come to their casino.

I sat down at a 9/6 DDB thief and almost at once a deafening blaring staccato sound filled the already noisy air. That was followed by an equally unbearable distorted voice. It was a warning of an impending simulated fire drill. It just kept on repeating and repeating at short intervals. Both myself and the lady next to me had to stop playing to cover our ears. I mean mine started ringing. I called over a guard and he agreed the sound level was waaaaay to loud. I told him instead of testing the alarm. they should be testing the SOUND system first!

What a bunch of............ you can fill in the blank. I would start a class action suit but I just washed my hair.

Is this going to be the last good news we hear from Palms before CET takes over? I hope not, but I suspect it may be.

[vpFREE] XVP - Derby Picks

Hi Gang:
First let me say that it warms the heart of this ol' handicapper to know
that a number of members of this board were able to make money following my
picks on the Derby. It makes me still feel relevant as an observer of the
thoroughbred racing scene. It doesn't always work out that way but with Super
Saver (2010 Derby), Drosselmeyer (2010 Belmont) and now Animal Kingdom and
Nehro coming through for me I seem to be settling into a good groove on
these Triple Crown races.
To answer Chris, before retiring in 2004 I was a professional handicapper
for the New York Post and editor of the Daily Racing Form for over 25 years
and did an in-depth, horse-by-horse analysis on the Triple Crown races
during my time at the Post.
As far as my handicapping methodology goes, there are a number of factors I
consider, some of which (but not many) include math. Those would include
race fractional times, horses' in-the-money records, trainer and jockey
won/loss percentages, Beyer Speed Figures, historical trends etc.
But if I had to pigeon-hole myself I would say that I was a "trip
handicapper" first and foremost. I love to watch race replays over and over,
analyzing trips, track conditions and biases, pace and things like that. For
races like the Derby and Belmont, breeding also plays a big part as well as the
horse's current condition and his adaptability to the track on which the
race will be run.
Then, it all boils down to which horses appear to be ready to turn in a
peak performance.
It surely is an inexact science because horses are flesh and blood, not
machines, but if you can whittle down the contenders to a precious few in a
field of 12-20, there can be excellent value if the odds are right. Usually,
in the Derby those conditions always exist.
I hope this answers some of the questions posed recently and I hope OUR
success continues in the Preakness.
Regards,
CoachVee

PS: Yes, I did have a win bet on Animal Kingdom and caught the exacta so,
all in all, it was a very good day!

<For someone to question the "math" of a retired professional handicapper
is insulting. Coach V is a pro annd anyone who's been a member of this
board for as long as the rest of us know this. Having this board hijacked for
the purposes of self promotion is annoying, to say the least. I vote with
you, Pat.>

<I did not know Coach V is a retired professional handicapper. I hope the
Coach can share some info on his career. I would be very interested to
hear the details of the process from a professional. Chris.>
