So, you've heard that it has changed now so that the tier score requirements and the length of time you stay in the tier are the same at all properties? That makes it even more strange that they don't have it on their website. I had thought they were concealing the differences between regions.
Thanks!

At every Boyd , is a full color brochure which fully explains the tier
level. The requirements are the same at ALL boyd, basically X coin in
within a certain time period. I just earned my Emerald Card , which they
told me is good for a year. I would call up the slot club, and ask them to
please mail you the brochure.

I used the wrong phrase. The correct phrase is "visibly impaired." At any rate that law is strictly enforced in Colorado.

Does that "visually impaired" include people who wear eyeglasses?
[vpFREE] Brief report on new Valley Forge Casino
*Just one point of view*
- *How new: opened around same time as Revel.*
- *Accommodations: There are two sections: casino hotel and Radisson.
They are connected, but it is a loooong walk to the Radisson. Supposedly
casino rooms are not as nice as Rad, but to me the Rad room was close to
primitive, though clean.*
- *Pool: yes, Rad, pleasant and good size, but more or less surrounded
by parking lots.*
- *Check-in: took 45 minutes! My host claims they are working on having
a VIP check-in.*
- *Restaurants: good selection.*
- *Host: terrific.*
- *Offer: freeplay and hotel dollars. I managed to use my freeplay only
and came home winning. Used hotel dollars for terrific steak at
steak-house, though service was extreeeemely slow due to large crowd. I
already have another offer for freeplay, higher than the first, and my host
will upgrade my card to elite, and comp further hotel dollars to compensate
for the service wait I encountered. They're trying.*
- *I'm hoping others can comment with further knowledge of this, but:
you have to pay to lose your money. $10 each visit, $70 per year (my host
waives the fee for me). This is closely enforced, with turnstiles, guards,
etc. Not sure whom they want to keep out, but it was nice not to have
non-gambling-free-drinks groups hanging around. Perhaps some sort of
mandate from PA that it has to be a 'private club'? Hopefully, it's not
elitist or there would have been a huge brouhaha, I would think.*
- *Gaming floor: small, bright, clean.*
- *Playable VP: none that I saw, though I didn't check every game at
every denom; 8/5 JoB. There are only 24 vp machines: 18 single play,
multi-denom. 4 3/5/10 play, multi-denom. 2 Super Pay, 3/5/10, multi-denom.
The only upside for quarter+ players is that there are no less than quarter
denoms, so no nicklers tying up the machines. Even though it was crowded,
the multi-play machines were always available. (The hit that put me ahead
for the night was on Super-Pay: Double Double Bonus, one fours 4k, one
fours 4k with kicker, 8X multiplier, quarters. They ask if you want to have
taxes taken out.)*
- *Drinks: free.*
- *Points: I earned 101 points, but I forgot to ask how many through-put
dollars = 1 point. I played quite a bit. 1 point = 1 hotel reward dollar.
*
- *Other: only 20 minutes from Philly and 20 minutes from Longwood
Gardens. Near highways for easy access.*
- *Because of connection with Radisson, there are very large groups
(weddings, etc.) that can tie up all the lines and wait-times.*

[vpFREE] Boyd's b Connected Tiers, home casinos, etc.
We haven't done much at Boyd's properties for a couple of years, other than playing once in a while to keep the bonus credits alive. Now we're thinking of getting back into the family and are looking for some info.
In the past, it was very easy to find Tier Level information on Boyd Gaming's website. There were clear and significant differences between properties (regions) in both point requirements for each tier, and in how long you kept the tier once it was earned. I assume these differences still exist, but that the system is... shall we say... less than transparent. ;-)
Who can point me in the right direction? I could call every Boyd casino, but that would be a little tedious don't you think :D

At any rate, it sounds like finding the gaming books was a convenient
excuse to get you out of town.

Although not the main point of the post and reply, when you play FP Pick'em at less than 5 coin, it is not just the Royal that is shorted, but also the straight flush as well as fours of a kind.
Royal 5 Coin = 6,000 or 1,200 per coin; 1 Coin pays 1,000 (short pay of 200 per coin).
Straight Flush 5 coin = 1,199 or 240+- per coin; 1 Coin pays 200 (short pay of 40 per coin).
4 of a Kind 5 coin = 600 or 120 per coin; 1 coin pays 100 (short pay of 20 per coin).
I can under certain circumstances understand playing only one coin, but at an eastern US Casino, it used to amaze me that quite a few regular players (that were otherwise bright people) often used to play 3 and even 4 coin rather than 5 at this game with short pay in three categories when they played less than 5 coin.

[vpFREE] LVA Question of the Day - 16 JUL 2012
LVA Question of the Day - 16 JUL 2012
Q: My husband and I usually visit Las Vegas from Canada once
a year and we have seen many changes over the past 15 years.
This year we are bringing my father, who has not been there
in that 15-year time frame. What have been the biggest
changes in the intervening years? What are the best new
things to put on Dad's "to-do" list and what are the
remaining old favorites, now that places like the Sands,
Stardust, and Frontier are gone? P.S. As a self-proclaimed
Vegas Trivia Addict, I love reading the Question of the Day.
Thanks!

[vpFREE] Re: Doing CZR Great Race
It is 11. However, the machine requires $80 coin-in for one base reward credit. Therefore, you would have to play 2,000 hands at the one credit level to earn 25 points. The return is 98.95% for one credit, so the expected loss is $21. If you can't afford to play $5/hand, I wouldn't bother with it. It's be easier to earn your points playing a table game like Spanish 21, baccarat, or craps for 1-1.5 hours (how I earned my points).
The Diamond Lounge in Metropolis is also surprisingly nice with very good dinner service. The DL in Elizabeth is mediocre -- try the restaurants or buffet instead. St. Louis DL has a nice buffet.

And they kicked me out of town for having dangerous video poker propaganda in my possession. No gambling subversives allowed in Blackhawk.
I guess it was a couple of years later that I learned through an Arnold Snyder article in Cardplayer Magazine that Colorado Gaming actually arrested a person in Blackhawk for using a strategy card at a blackjack table. I never did catch the outcome of the case. That's why, with what happened to me, when Bob announced that Arnold was going to be on GWAE, I asked him if he could ask Arnold how the case came out. Arnold said he thought the case got thrown out.
I almost became the first case in Colorado. I wouldn't have layed down on the charge either.
