That's not quite accurate. The Golden Gate opened in 1906. According
to the article, the Railroad Pass is the oldest casino that has been
continuously in operation, but it can't be by much and I'm not
convinced it's true, since the Golden Gate reopened its casino in the
same year.

We loved having CET total reward cards with our pictures on the back (like Palms did). We never have to pull out our DL with them. Without them I have to dig it out probably 10 times a day (charging food, etc. to room, picking up free play, cashiers booth transactions, checking in, etc.)  Now almost no CET casinos have working cameras to do them. I think none in LV, Flamingo was the last to breakdown sometime earlier this year.  Cherokee and a few others still do them, but it is great.

"Railroad Pass has license No. 4. Nos. one and two were never issued.
No. 3 didn't last."

What does that mean?

RE: [vpFREE] Palms scratch promo

Without showing a "real" ID anyone could flash your card.  They don't look that close.  A friend even gave my card once by mistake at a buffet and they took it no questions asked when she showed her real ID!!  The cashier didn't even match the names!   I don't want my pic attached to my name floating around any casino if I were to leave it in a machine.  Just too much invasion of your privacy and opens the door for misuse and abuse.  Possible ID theft too.  Just sayin….your mileage may vary.  To each his own, as they say.

I tend to err on the naive side (even having passed the the threshold of "upper 50's), but I'm hard pressed to imagine what use a photo-id'd player card might be put to.

Weighing pluses/minuses, I take some comfort that it might be more difficult for someone to use a card I've left behind at the machine to illicitly access my account benefits.

If I remember correctly, in Nevada all slots must return at least 75%. So any game that you can get any significant comp while playing 8 cents a spin is likely a huge overlay. Your biggest outlay was probably the tip for the free beer, assuming you tipped. I'm not criticizing you, in fact if you can pull this off, kudos to you. There do seem to be a lot of low roller specials these days in casinos however. And there are plenty of promotions with no coin in requirement at all.

Re: [vpFREE] Palms scratch promo

That's what they told me at the Palms when I asked why I should get my picture on the card.

I don't think it would be considered a legal ID would it? Seems they would still want to match the card with your legal ID. Anyone have experience with this?

I'm wondering why people would want their picture on their card?

The Palms has always issued new cards around this time of year, so they would have updated expiration dates. They usually come in the mail with the monthly mailer. The reason for the in-house issue of cards this year was that all photos from the past had been "lost" in their computers so they need to take new pictures. (They lost my picture with the Easter Bunny ears that I have used for many years ) I'm not sure about who gets pics on their cards. I know Hall of Famer's do, but I don't know how many lower tiers do.

I'm not sure about the change in benefits because I had thrown away my old slot club benefit list. Of course car wash tokens are gone because the car wash is gone. Something which I think is new listed in the benefit brochure is for the movie theater. MVP's get 2 free tickets per month; Hall of Famer's get 4. A player has 180 days to get to any tier level. I was thinking it used to be just 3 months – am I wrong in that??? And has the top tier – Hall of Famer – always taken 150,000 points? Again, I was thinking it was 200,000 – but my memory for details just isn't working quite as well as it used to. Corrections are welcome!!!!!
