I fell for you. Last year, for me, got me 0 (zero) royals in 240,000 games at dollar play. I haven't figured my win loss yet. I'm guessing it's about (18 to to 20) in the box. I play mostly DDB. $5000 free play and $1000 cash. Also, picked up various free play coupons from $100 - $500 which helps. Better, I won a $5000 free play and $1000 cash on free tournaments in 2011. I can always afford to play free tournaments. This will be my worst year since 2008. It ain't no fun.
Cheers, Jeep

That is an average of 182,919 hands per royal, playing predominantly Jacks or Better. Given that number of hands, one might expect over 13 royals.

From the point that I started playing standard games instead of progressives, through the end of 2010, I had 115 royals in 4,949,418 hands for an average of 43,038 hands per royal. Since there was a period when most of my play was Deuces Wild, this average is not too far above my expectations.

A nickel royal on a 100-play machine ($200) is just another hand in my opinion, so I segregate what I call n-play games to a different universe. For this year, I have played 354,764 hands of n-play VP with 8 royals. That's an average of 44,346 hands per royal. This is close enough to expectations to consider normal, but of course these payouts did nothing to repair the bankroll damage done by months of losses on substantial $5, $10 and $25 play without royals.

Video Poker Mania was one of the first books I read on video poker about 15 years ago. I just took a look on Amazon and they have a lot of cheap used copies. I may order it just to see how accurate my memory is of what I read. Also, it was written by Dwight & Louise Crevelt, not Dwight Crevelts, like I wrote.

I miss the Double Jackpot and Double Double Jackpot games the Frontier had. And, still in AC are the 5 Joker progressive game machines but as machines die, there will be less and less................... Already 2 less from a couple of years ago.

But, from what I know, it's no wonder they faded away. It got to where slot techs could not get parts for the machines. They had to start cannibalizing. So a bank of 10 Flush Attacks would be reduced to 8, then eventually to 6....and eventually to nothing. Damn Sigma!
