Try Fox. However, be aware that it involves a "double shuttle." You take the regular shuttle to the Rental Center, then the Fox shuttle from there to the Fox lot (about two miles south of the RC and just west of LV Blvd.) When you return to the airport, you drop your car at the Fox lot, catch their shuttle to the RC, and board its airport shuttle. Sounds more tedious and time-consuming than it really is. The Fox shuttle runs 7x24 and at 10-min. intervals. I just did a three-day rental of an economy car for $55. Budget wanted $131!

[vpFREE] Re: Flights from Los Angeles to Las Vegas?
We used to fly Spirit from Boston to AC on Harrah's nickel.
One trip the flight was cancelled and Spirit (after four hours) announced that they have were bringing buses to shuttle their passengers to AC. That would be about 7 hours? And I know a lot of the passengers were heading to points way beyond AC.
We declined and went home.
Would an airline do that if the flight was cancelled out of LAX?

No we just checked it again with AMEX as we rented a car in WA. and
returned it in CA. Our AMEX is platinum, maybe that makes a difference. Really
don't know.

I have no collision insurance on my four cars.
No theft.
Have over 2 million dollars in liability when you include umbrella.
Insurance is for protection from life changing events in my opinion.
I question whether or not credit card companies take very good
care of you Nowadays.
Times have changed.
I did find this link when googled "credit card compay car insurance fail"
http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/154168/auto_insurance/rental_car_insurance_supplied_by_goldenplatinum_cards.html
"....For many individuals, this seems like adequate protection for any instances where they need to rent a car. The problem occurs when the individuals fail to read the fine print of their credit card disclosures. Although many credit card companies offer rental car insurance, the actual items covered may vary from company to company"
It's a gamble like VP. All I want is a fair bet.

How long ago (if it was IP it was awhile ago).
Things may have changed on the AMEX deal on car rentals.
I remember getting a notice from one of my AMEX cards that they were changing the car rental insurance program a year or so ago.

[vpFREE] Re: Rental cars
I forgot to add the $15/rental that American Express charges for their protection program. I supposedly don't have to deal with anybody but American Express. They handle it all.
Alamo's $13/day charge for Liability is now my setpoint. I was taken aback by Payless $20/day liability and she claimed she gave me the lowest priced liablity option.
My thinking is the $13/day plus the American Express charge of $15/rental (no matter the length of rental) puts American Express between me and the rental agency; their insurance company; my insurance company; the claimant insurance company (if any).
Whether you have had to deal with a claim is not relevant. I too have been fortunate in not getting into accidents that had injuries. Except when a teenager way back in the 70's and I had a little car called Simca (I think it was made in Yugoslovia). Hit a car on it's side going slow at a four way stop. The passenger opens his door; take off his seat belt and falls out (after about ten seconds) :-)

Very good! May I ask the name of rental car company? Just curious. Thanks.

Dave, I agree with the general line of reasoning you outline. But, not having incurred a single vehicle liability claim in my 37 years of driving (I've had my share of collision claims), I personally wouldn't pay up $159 per rental for the option to forgo a claim to my auto insurance in the event of such a claim.
For that matter, faced with a liability claim, I'd feel much more secure with a firm I've personally vetted standing behind me, than whoever backs the renter's insurance option.

[vpFREE] Re: Rental cars
You don't understand. Payless NO longer has me as a customer. I tried them once and that's it.
Here's a breakdown of the charges totaling $463:
Rate Charge: $139
Cons Facility Charge: $30
Renters Liability Prot: $159
Roadside Service Prot: $24
Vehicle License Fee: $11
Sales Tax: $27
Clark County Fee: $7
Govt Servcies Fee: $33
Concession Red Fee: $33
Whether it's a good idea to decline all insurances depends on your personal financial situation; how valuable is your time dealing with your own insurance company and rental agency and whether or not you are adequately insured back at your home/business.
Like I in previous post Alamo is $13/day for liability and never heard of the Roadside Service Protection before, I guess that is a little extra that I could have declined but the agent told me it was mandatory.

Re: [vpFREE] Harrah's Reward Credits
Have you written them and asked why the drop? They usually respond to questions from their web site in 2 business days or
less.
You're not the same person that had their balance increased a week or so ago, are you?

They charged $30 for roadside protection and $160

and for $15 they "cover" the other insurances no matter
how long. More importantly deal with all the paperwork (supposedly)as long
as you take the rental car liability.
