I have no collision insurance on my four cars.
No theft.
Have over 2 million dollars in liability when you include umbrella.
Insurance is for protection from life changing events in my opinion.
I question whether or not credit card companies take very good
care of you Nowadays.
Times have changed.
I did find this link when googled "credit card compay car insurance fail"
http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/154168/auto_insurance/rental_car_insurance_supplied_by_goldenplatinum_cards.html
"....For many individuals, this seems like adequate protection for any instances where they need to rent a car. The problem occurs when the individuals fail to read the fine print of their credit card disclosures. Although many credit card companies offer rental car insurance, the actual items covered may vary from company to company"
It's a gamble like VP. All I want is a fair bet.

If you have a car with insurance (and who doesn't) then you're already covered, plus as the other poster said, your credit card takes very good care of you in the event of an accident. Those coverages they try to sell renters are just fat, and most of the people who purchase them are from another country, seniors intimidated into buying, or people who for some reason currently are not covered.
