I'm afraid your going to have to stand in line for that job, as there exist
an army of ULT-X wongers and scammers.

I'd like to download this 12/13 show but the link on bobdancer.com
doesn't work for me and this show isn't even on richardmuchkin.com.
The last show listed there is 12/6.

I thought the story is contemporary.

But either way, I would've expected a quintessential hustler like Mickey to have a hustle for a discounted if not comped room.

And $81 in what sounds like a one horse town?

[vpFREE] Gambling With An Edge December 20

There has been a change in our scheduled guest for the
December 20 edition of Gambling with an Edge. Our guest
will be Blackjack Hall of Fame member John Chang, who led the MIT Blackjack
Team for more than 10 years. One of the most interesting stories about John is
when he was piloting an airplane and told his MIT teammates that he wasn't
quite up to snuff in navigating --- but since they were smart enough to get
into MIT and it was basically a math problem, it was advisable that they figure
it out or they all were going to die in a crash landing. We'll hear Chang's
take on that.

Gambling with an Edge is broadcast every Thursday evening from
7-8 p.m. Pacific Time on station AM 1230 in Las Vegas --- or over www.klav1230am.com from anywhere. On the
day following the show, the show is archived on www.bobdancer.com/radio.cfm along
with all previous episodes.

I thought the most informative part of the show was Mr Nersesian's take on the use of smartphones and tablets in casinos to assist in playing video poker. Under Nevada law, he pretty much said he saw no legal defense for a player IF a casino wanted to press felony charges. Not only did he think hand analysis programs would be a violation, but
went so far as to suggest that consulting a strategy card saved on an electronic device would be a violation too.

Re: [vpFREE] Ca regulations

On Bob's show, the head slot guy from Pechanga said games returning over 100% are prohibited. I know of only one non-progressive game that violates this rule. It's on a multigame machine so maybe they factor that in like John Mott used to at Copa in Biloxi.

RE: [vpFREE] Ultimate Play Poker

I thought about this while driving over to one of the casinos I monitor to
"wong" Ultimate X.

Bob Dancer is almost certainly right on what is needed for strategy analyses
of this game.

PS: Lost $13.75 on the wong attempt but hit a "minor" on a Quick Strike for
a net win on that machine of $66.05 and a total score of +$52.30.

I was basing the number of possible combinations on what is shown at the
wizardofodds site.
Actually Shackleford just posted on this game and says at least 86 for 3
play, 183 for 5 play and 361 for 10 play.
The total actually varies slightly depending on the game. The multiplier sum
can be generated in more than one way.
Is the strategy always the same playing 3x, 2x, 1x vs 2x, 2x, 2x? If yes
then the number of strategies needed would be less!
Obviously some shortcuts are needed as no human will be able to analyze
every combination quick enough for practical use.

In general
Howard is correct --- but the number of different strategies is off. For Ten
Play, each of the lines can have a multiplier of 1 (meaning no multiplier at
all) to 12 (often a full house, although it's a straight flush in at least
some Deuces Wild Games). The sum of the multipliers can vary between 10 and
120 --- which leaves a maximum of 111 different strategies. Sometimes one or
more of these numbers are impossible (such as when you have a 12 multiplier
and a 10 multiplier but no 11 multiplier, then you can't get to 119.) Also
some of the multiplier totals are VERY far-fetched --- such as a total of
118 can only be reached by getting 9 full houses and 1 flush. Your best
chance to do this would be to hold two flush cards --- say a suited KQ. It's
about 100-to-1 on any hand to get a flush from that position and about
900-to-1 to get a full house starting with two unpaired cards. Getting 9
full houses and 1 flush out of 10 tries is, in round numbers, impossible.

For Triple
Play, the maximum number of strategies needed is 27 and for Five Play the
maximum numbers of strategies needed is 51. Most players use approximations
and use one strategy for multiplier sums between 10 and 27. A second
strategy for multiplier sums between 28 and 64. Etc. It's not perfect ---
but it is a good compromise between what's possible and what's humanly
feasible.
