[vpFREE] Last visit 2007

I don't think casinos gave out free popcorn in 2007.... We remember free Breakfast at Sys, circa 1980....

Sorry your wife had a bad trip in 2007....hopefully that was a one time thing. So much has changed here I would recommend a walking trip along the strip, starting at NYNY, go through new Aria casino which I no was not there then, to Bellagio and visit the garden inside. Unless you are very healthy (or not and riding scooters) that may be far enough for one walk. Then another day walk from Cromwell (you'll remember that as Barbary COast) to Flamingo (visit the gardens inside for a break if you want to see some live Flamingos), then into the Quad, ride the High Roller (free tickets if you are a diamond member of Caesars, ask at total rewards, if not, look for discounts online). Then into Quad (former Imperial Palace) to Venetian and Palazzo (dont think that was there in 2007). Stop for breakfast and lunch and dinner on the way. Or do the reverse.

I am not sure when the encore and Wynn were built, but you can do a third trip there if you want and maybe look at the former sites of Frontier and Stardust (now under construction).
Then on to the SLS, former Sahara, totally new and modern.

Not sure how long your trip is, but if you have a week, onward to Lake Meade to check out how low the water level is. Downtown Vegas with the Container Park (stores), new Smith Center for a show, pass the Grand (former Lady Luck), take in the Fremont Street Experience with a new show and people zip lining down the center.

For those cheap buffets you remember try one of the Coast casinos, Suncoast if you want to go to Summerlin, Orleans or Gold Coast closer in Or a Stations casino.

For splurge eating, try lunches to save money, at the more expensive buffets like Bellagio or Caesars, or Giadas in the Cromwell.

Check out online for half-price (or so) kiosk locations and discounts. Also those "what to see and do" booklets still have coupons, available in the airport information kisok or hotel front desks.

have fun, and don't get sick this time!!

Re: [vpFREE] saw everything in Vegas till 2007- what should i see now?

If you like Laughlin try the Aquarius. If you liked the Orleans before, you should still like it. For downtown you might like one of the Boyd properties or the 4 Queens is pretty good. It all comes down to what your priorities are, rooms , comps, games, etc..

Subject: [vpFREE] saw everything in Vegas till 2007- what should i see now?

Used to do Vegas every month or two. Watched Mirage & Treasure Island being built. Caesars transform to Form shops. visited lots: dam, Laughlin, Mesquite, Mt Charleston, State Line Whiskey Pete's on way to high desert in Ca. Used Vegas as home base to travel west. Drove and flew to phoenix, Las
Angeles and other places. Stayed In Frontier, Holiday Inn, Orleans, LVH, Rio, Gold Coast, Palace Station, Sam's, Laughlin Harrahs etc. Too many to keep listing.

!n 2007 my wife hospitalized in Vegas with Sepsis. On ventilator for 7 days. Hospital longer. Stayed in Vegas for about month till she could travel back home. Now she finally is ready to fly and travel. By the way she's
healthy and well.

What do we want to try to visit or put on list? Will probably schedule stay 10 days including 2 weekends. Will rent car. I have heard things have changed in 8 years. I don't know which casino would make a good home base. If wife and i enjoy Vegas as much as we used to, we will have to develop a home casino. I have heard
Downtown and off strip are best for comps, CB, games etc.. Have also heard some casino don't even
give popcorn. A member from a group of 16 folks from a sportsman club stayed at Bally's . One guy
said he was at Bar Bally's and ordered drink. Supposedly the bartender charged for drink because guy
wasn't playing max coins. I was even thinking of going into Laughlin instead of Vegas..

Asking for ideas. What would some of you folks suggest.

Cheers......JEEP

Re: [vpFREE] Long article on Tunica. Atlantic City is sort of the same story. Be sure to read comments

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A thoughtfully researched
piece.

I suspect that each of us that have been around long enough to witness the
birth and maturation of AC and it's subsequent imitators can testify to its
observations.
