[vpFREE] Free Vegas show discount club

My friend passed on info on the discount (pretty much free) club he is in.

Note if you do book shows and cancel you have to pay a fee.  Otherwise the shows are really free.  Usually they are the small shows downtown or in other venues.

1-      Website is www.houseseats.com

2-      Price of $89/year includes 1 or 2 free seats per show

3-      They are currently running a limited time promotion giving you TWO years for $89.

4-      Tickets become available 1-4 days before performance date

[vpFREE] RE: Free or half price tix for Caesars TR members - with some comments

I'm Diamond and when I went in September I was told I get 2 free tickets per month.  I had no trouble getting Penn & Teller tickets and I think I only got them the night before, but it was for a Monday.  I didn't think I'd like them but I really enjoyed the show.

I believe 7 star and Diamond get 2 tickets per month, Platinum 2 for the price of one. Some of the shows recently available were
Defending the Caveman,
Improv
Mac King (you can also find "free" tix for this being handed out in Harrahs Carnival court but u buy 2 drinks or play something like $9.95 and get 2 drinks)
MIllion Dollar Quartet
Jeff Civilico - comic juggler
frank Marino Divas
Vinnie Favoritino - insult comic
Legendsin Concert - always good, show is 4 and 9:30 I think
Jubilee (topless, classic Vegas show, excellent)
Anthony Cools -hypnotist
Penn and Teller (they are sometimes out of town and some shows sold out)

Check with Total Rewards as to what is on current list.
You must go to the property where show is to get the ticket, so in the case of one of the more popular shows like Penn and Teller or Million Quartet, you might want to make sure they are available at box office for date you want before getting the coupon from Total Rewards. We were able to book show in advance by calling main Harrahs/Caesars number, but I don't know this is always true, and it did not reserve a specific seat for us.

Usually you can get voucher good for 7 days and then get a ticket for up to 7 days before show, which is helpful. Sometimes u can even get a ticket for further in advance. Some shows like Jubilee have assigned seats, others will be general admission. If no seat assigned, show your diamond or 7 star card on entry for possible better seats (but sometimes this doesn't help and you will be in the back -- Million Quartet had assigned seats but despite our supposed early booking on phone and 7 stars, when we got to box office we got back of theater seats, but fortunately show is in smallish theater so all was good). On general admission if u are shown to a bad seat u can also try tipping for better seat.

For Mac King, using one of those coupons, go early, show can sell out.

For popular shows such as Penn and Teller, obviously you'll have better luck getting tickets for weekday than Sat. Night.

Also be aware of blackout dates and bad information! Call the box office directly to find out in advance if your show is "on" when u will be there. Even this can sometimes result in wrong info. Some periods like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and December actually, often have shows closed for the holidays.
Also some shows have two shows a night, some one, and some have different show hours on different dates.

If you are only getting 2 for 1 tickets, you might also want to check at one of those 2 for 1 ticket places for good deals for non Harrahs shows. Some shows in small venues or downtown are quite enjoyable. (see my next post for review of Shades of Sinatra).

The list of free or BOGO tickets changes frequently but I believe you can call the main CET reservations number 800-223-7277, ask for VIP Reservations. They will tell you what shows are available to you and reserve tickets for you too.

Note that many shows are dark during mid-December.

[vpFREE] Shades of Sinatra review

Many small shows are available in Las Vegas at lower cost than the big Cirque or "name shows". Sometimes good discounts for these are available in the half price discount centers, coupons in "what to do, see" books, online, or special "Vegas free shows" discount clubs.

A friend of mine is in one of those discount clubs, he pays $90 a year and then get lists of shows that are free, so has taken me to several. (basically sometimes these small shows want to fill up empty seats, and they know you might buy a drink or gamble while there too.)

Many of the shows are downtown, but some are in other venues.

We just saw SHADES OF SINATRA at the Clarion Hotel (former Debbie Reynolds hotel) on Convention drive, half way up from the Las Vegas Convention Center and down from Las Vegas Blvd (and site of former Stardust).

Very enjoyable show with 3 guys and a gal with good voices singing great Sinatra hits like "Always" "New York NY" "I Get a kick from champagne" (whatever the title of that is), "My Way" etc etc. Great easy listening music. The guys don't try to be Sinatra impersonators, but their voices combined with the Sinatra style do make them sound a lot like him.

A little bit of humor, a whole lot of great songs.

Interestingly the theater (built by Reynolds) has some of the booths from the old Dunes.

My friend has seen quite a few of these smaller shows around town and enjoyed them quite a bit.

So if you want to save some money, or just are tired of Cirque shows, check out some of the other entertainment venues around town.

[vpFREE] RE: Historic Vegas Visit

Aren't you worried about the damage this trip has done to your trip average?

Shocking, I know. But, for a number of reasons, we decided beforehand to make it a "non-gambling trip." Instead, we concentrated on getting together with a lot of friends in the area, see some shows, eat some great meals and finally get to do something we've wanted to do since we started visiting Sin City as a couple in 1998 ... take a day trip to visit the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.
We flew in on Friday on one of our Seven Stars trips and checked into Caesars Palace, where we hooked up with our long-time buddies, Jean and Brad, for dinner. It was great seeing them and catching up with what's going on in our lives.
Afterwards, we went to Harrah's across the street to meet two other friends who live in Vegas for some dessert and coffee in the Harrah's Diamond Lounge and to see Million Dollar Quartet with our monthly freebie (Seven Stars) tickets. Loved the show!
Saturday we did some sight-seeing on the strip with our niece and nephew, who were traveling with us, played in the Millionaire Maker slot tournament at Planet Hollywood then met Linda (Misscraps) and several other friends for dinner at the Palms buffet.(Thanks Linda for hosting!)
Later that night, we saw Rod Stewart in concert at Caesars Colosseum and were totally entertained. It was especially heart-warming to see his daughter Ruby perform with him and watch his two young sons -- one of which was only 2 years old! -- cavort with him onstage.
Sunday we booked an all-day bus trip with a company called Viatour that took us to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. At the canyon, we made stops at Eagle Point, Guano Point and the Hualapai Ranch. It was very gratifying to finally get to see these wonders up close and personal. Another thing to cross off our Bucket List!
The only downer was the fact that the Rock and Roll Marathon was being run that day and the Strip was closed from 2 p.m. until late at night so our bus got stuck in horrendous traffic on our return and we didn't get back to Caesars until almost 9 p.m.
We also ate a couple of meals at the revamped Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars with our good friends from AC, Kathy and Steve, who were in town for the MM tourney, and although the buffet was lavish we thought it was way overpriced.
I also have to amend an earlier statement. We did do a bit of gambling on the trip. Through an offer we received in the mail, we each had $50 in free play at Caesars. So, we did run that through on Saturday night after the Rod Stewart show. Playing 7/5 bonus poker near the parking garage entrance we managed to cash out $91 of the $100 and happily walked away with our net profit for the trip!
It was a very different outing for us to the world's gambling mecca but it still turned out to be a fun and exciting time.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy

Not having to swipe might allow players that Stations feel have an IQ higher than their shoe size get multipliers again.
