[vpFREE] Rampart Drawing

I'm posting this for someone who wants to be anonymous for obvious reasons.

----- Forwarded Message -----

Rampart is advertising their February drawing as giving away $75,000.
Full details of this promotion can be found at this link:

https://www.theresortatsummerlin.com/admin/uploads/635_75kcupidscash_flyer_w.pdf

Here is my analysis:

The prize list is as follows:

4 * $75 = $300
8 * $100 = $800
7 * $250 = $1750
4 * $500 = $2000
2 * $750 = $1500

Total 25 prizes and total $6,350 in prize money.

Average prize will be $6,350 / 25 = $254. Each winner spins three
times and the total win is the sum from the three spins.

The average total will be 3 * $254 = $762.

There are 8 drawing days (Feb.1,7,8,14,15,21,22,28).

Two drawings each day for 5 winners each = 10 winners each day, 80
winners for the month. The expected value for the total prize money
is 80 * $762 = $60,960.

This is the third monthly drawing of the last 6 where the expected
total prize amount has been significantly less than the advertised
total.

I suggest Rampart customers mention this to their host. You can also
bring this to the attention of the Nevada Gaming Control Board
Enforcement division without filing a formal complaint.

[vpFREE] RE: Medicare and W-2G income

$170K Modified AGI is the magic number for a couple. Was at the LVH last week. Construction Industry convention at the LVCC. Lot of drinking/gambling starting about 3 in the afternoon. OTOH, long lines at the coffee shop starting 6 in the morning. Typical hours for construction folks.

Was in high limit. Customer on the triple line $50 9/6 DDB. Attendant standing in the shadows. When the customer got a W2 win, worker would log the win and call the info to the back-room. The player would sign the attendant's log and the machine would be unlocked. Every couple of minutes it seemed.

Don't think the player was concerned about tax efficiency. Probably files as a pro with his company's accounting division doing all the paperwork. No need to worry about MAGI et al.

Host stopped in every few minutes. "Anything we can get you?  Anything at all. O.K?."

It is time again for my warning on W-2G income and Medicare.  Will you be age 63 this year?  If so you will be eligible for Medicare in 2 years.  The number of W-2Gs you hit this year could more than double your Medicare Part B and D premiums in 2016.  The increased premiums are refigured each year based on your Modified Adjusted Gross Income so you can lower your premiums by reducing your W-2G income.  All the details are available in SSA Publication No 05-10536.  You can view and print this pub at www.ssa.gov.  Click on benefits>medicare>medicare info for beneficiaries with higher incomes.

[vpFREE] RE: Tax question(s)

Nita,

I have posted several warnings about the impact of W-2Gs on Medicare.  There is an appeal process you can try.  You do not need an attorney so you can do it yourself.  On the first level you will be denied, but an administrative law judge has more leeway and may grant you some relief based on the fact that your AGI is not close to your real income.  There is no reason why this policy cannot be changed to offset winnings with losses, but someone will have to challenge the policy.
