From an out-of-town (vs local) perspective:
A year or 2 ago, I was fortunate to have the highest (30x VP, 50x slots) multiplier for a Wed/Young at heart day.
And as of late, was fairly lucky with (10x VP, 20x slots).
Laws of avg, or perhaps the 'unknown' random generator formula has caught up with my bonus.
This past trip (a few weeks ago), the bonus was: 5x VP, 9x slots.
the other 'possible' winners shown on the kiosk screen were :
VP : 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x
Slots: 9x up to the 50x max.
I'm still happy with the unknown marketing offers I receive as a Sapphire level player, though.
And the Young At Heart dwgs do seem to be truly random, as I was on an 'invite' offer and spoke with this guy named Joe (every day I saw him, he had a different shirt on with funny stmtn : "Eat at Joes", "Not your average Joe", etc....great for conversation starters).... anyhow, he is a recreational player, but combined play between him and his wife probably garnered the offer.
He and I were waiting by the YAH dwg area on Wed 4:30pm 8-10-16, and even with his 'minimal' slots only play (about 20 dwg tix, so maybe $500 played thru various games), he was in the 2nd group of 7 names drawn for $100 winner!
I also was in the 3rd group, and it's the 3rd or 4th time I've won that dwg! I had around 2-3k (so 121 e-tickets), including the first free one for swiping at kiosk on Young At Heart day.
I am probably just very lucky at this event - at ST.
I (have tried before at the Orleans/GC, but seems like more players, so fewer chances to win there?).
On Mkt Offers, definitely an unknown formula, so I guess I will just keep playing as I do to generate generous Out-Of-Town event invite offers (which are pretty decent, usually min $5000 given away available to 75-150 invited guests - obviously offered with up to 3 nights free during 'low attendance' seasons).
These invite events have taken various forms, the most common is called a "Cash Grab" event - in which the invited guests have a brief dessert/social gathering on Tues (mon-wed offer), where they give every invited guest a gift (usually from leftover other slot gift days prizes), along with cash ($25-500), and 7x VP for the whole stay.
This last event, though, was better, and even Ruby players were invited. I'm guessing Boyd still caters to the Hawaii market; Some guests at my last event had a fly/stay/play pkg, but they did have to stay downtown (Cal/MSS) vs ST for the tournament events (which took place over 3 days Mon-Wed), with 6 separate minitournaments (Slots and VP total $5000 prize pool for EACH tournament) with a chance to place in top 25 of the 150 or so invited for each event. I was lucky, and cashed in 2 of the 6 events.
I'm still trying to figure out what qualifies for the event offers; more conversations with mktg staff may give me more info. If anyone else would like to share their experiences, perhaps it would benefit the readers.
I do know that 'trip avg/monthly tier pts' scores count towards marketing offers; and since I do play at other Boyd properties (sometimes just for the bonus gift days at Orleans/GC), and live poker/bingo as well, total Tier score is looked at and where your Primary property of play is (ST, Orleans, GC, or downtown, or even SunCoast) will determine the types of event offers and/or discounted to free room offers (for out-of towners).
Thanks for reading,
Martin
