There are two major differences. First of all, to get the highest return out of NSU at Dotty's, it requires playing coin-in of $120 per hand or higher. Station Casinos does not offer games that loose for stakes that high. High stakes players do not get the same percentage return that lower stakes players get --- but they do get much higher dollars-per-hour EVs.

Second, Station Casinos have arguably kicked out more players than all the other local casinos in Vegas put together. Most knowledgeable players are not welcome there. There are still some skillful players who have run badly there who are welcome, but their time is likely limited. In addition, Stations has kicked out not-so-skillful players who have hit "too many" royals.

For the most part, if you have a clue as to what you're doing playing video poker, or you've been lucky, you're no-mailed and otherwise restricted by Stations. But if forever reason you're still welcome to play at Stations and you're satisfied with the stakes and benefits, go for it.

[vpFREE] RE: Arrests for cashing freeplay for others

I agree 100% with you my friend.   All legal opinions aside,  whatever your view may be as to whether it is fraud if you either have permission of your friend/relative to bank their freeplay or run it off for them,  or whether it's fraud if you value your privacy and choose to give a pen-name or pseudonym to the casino,   action was given and in exchange for that action/play the casino mailed a designated amount of bounceback freeplay.    Players and the law may view it as perfectly legal to redeem it and play under whatever name you care to play but that does not mean that the casino won't be pissed off about it and it definitely doesn't mean that an enterprising District Attorney who has a close relationship with Caesars Entertainment's lawyers can't make your life miserable and that does not mean that a court or judge won't put you in a position to choose  between a plea bargain you don't want or huge legal bills to probably get found innocent and a small possibility of huge legal bills and a guilty verdict.

Re: [vpFREE] RE: Peppermill and the "2341 key"

He was doing it since 2011. I'm not surprised in the least. People (APs) give surveillance WAY too much credit. Surveillance people are NOT masters of the universe with cat-like reflexes - they're up there goofing off at work, talking about last nights Lakers game and whether it's going to rain tomorrow or not, just like the rest of us :-).

Besides, most surveillance keeps an eye on internal, back of house operations since (on a monetary scale) that's where the greatest risk really lies.

[vpFREE] South Point Casino Countermeasures

The South Point Casino recently invalidated some video poker players' cards. When their cards were inserted in a machine, the card reader said go to the slot club. Players cashed out their point balance there and were told they may not play on anyone else's card.

South Point also did this a few years ago to several players. The ones I know are all smart gamblers but never tried to cheat the casino.

[vpFREE] Peppermill and the "2341 key"

There's a pretty good story posted over on the Reno-VPFree Section.  It should have been re-posted here but I'm sure everyone here is a member of Reno too so I suggest you go read it.  Apparently management at Peppermill Reno sent someone around town to "2341 key" its competition. (look it up  lol)

Which brings me to that, the 2341 key.  I never heard of it before.  But a quick google showed me that you can buy one easily for a few bucks.  Apparently this key is used to just "read" or analyze the play history and hold/percent return of most slot machines.  Well well well.  Hmmmm.  We've discussed many times about the "mystery" of slot machines and their hold.  I'm getting ideas of buying one of these keys and seeing how it works.  I should test it at the El Cortez or some similar "friendly" place so I won't get beat up when they back-room me.

Seriously, what does anyone here know about this 2341 key?  I wanna know more.  lol  And go read that article.  They got fined a million bucks.  ouch!

We are going to Horseshoe SI and I heard they have 200 new machines.  Did they get rid of all the good VP there or are there still some left?

Thanks.

If you just want tickets, probably the best deal is to make an offer to a high roller who can get them comped. Or look on craigslist.

Definitely if they are not going to market to me I won't bother playing. I was initially interested because my wife wanted tickets for a concert there.

[vpFREE] RE: Some suggestions for Pechanga

Apologies up front, Richard -- I don't have any intel to offer on Pechanga.
Your post caught my eye because Bev and I are headed to Rincon tonight for a nice getaway.  Just curious what it was about Pechanga that caught your interest.

Rincon appears to stand heads and shoulders above Pechanga when it comes to ratings on the various travel websites.  And while play options are slim (DSTP bp is reasonably attractive and fun to boot), Rincon has just lifted itself up a notch in my book -- a member of their team went out of his way to stress (through action) that they're not particularly concerned whether I play or not (obviously there's a bit of an obnoxious story there).

Suffice it to say that when you know that a property isn't going to market to you after the fact, stressing about "how much to play" goes out the window! ;)

[vpFREE] Some suggestions for Pechanga

On GWAE last night Bob and I discussed my wanting to go hit a S CA casino. If you didn't hear the show here is a link. http://www.richardmunchkin.com/2014/02/gambling-with-edge-video-poker-for.html

Anyway, I didn't mention the casino on the air but it is Pechanga. Just wondered if anyone can help me out with
A. What game to play? NSUD, JOB or would I be better off playing like a 99% or slightly less game? (Particularly interested in mailers.)

B. What is a good amount of coin in? I don't want to put in 40k if it will generate the same mail as 20k.

Feel free to email me if answers are too sensitive. rwmunchkin at gmail

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Dotty's Casino Countermeasures

Sorry you experienced the single points on video poker also.  It does give me some reassurance that I wasn't the only one singled out. Is anyone still getting 1.5X or 2X points on video poker at Dotty's?

I don't think it's the "staying away" that resets your account, but rather the fact that your previous rolling 3 or 4 month qualifying period showed a win or loss that changes your BB from minuscule to significant.  It seems unlikely that such a method would toggle on and off multiplier eligibility in the same manner, especially since it is a published slot club benefit for all players with no specified requirements.  In my case I am still in the red for the last 3 months, but positive for the most recent 2 months so it doesn't  seem I am being denied multipliers using the same criteria as BB calculation.  I hope you will let us know if your experiment is successful.

I too am contemplating giving up playing at Dotty's.  I haven't yet determined whether a difference of 0.1% CB vs 0.2% CB is the deal breaker.  Being no mailed would be a no brainier.
