[vpFREE] Re: Recent Spike in vpFREE membership

"Spike" you say. Well I think I have something in my eye. Perhaps that's it.

If you like sports betting don't miss our next show.

And I'll mention the vpFREE boost on air and see if I can get us some more new blood.

Remember our new motto:

Gambling with an Edge—The show where our mission statement and first goal is never to second guess our second and foremost goal, not to be second, even for a second, bringing you the first best info on gambling, up to the second, every second—first!...and thirdly, our fifth goal—clearly, is to come up with an easier to understand mission statement.

If you're going to be talking about Ayn Rand's philosophy, at least give her the
justice of first, understanding, and second, accurately conveying, what she
espouses.

"Do not hide behind such superficialities as whether you should or should not
give a dime to a beggar. That is not the issue. The issue is whether you do or
do not have the right to exist without giving him that dime. The issue is
whether you must keep buying your life, dime by dime, from any beggar who might
choose to approach you. The issue is whether the need of others is the first
mortgage on your life and the moral purpose of your existence. The issue is
whether man is to be regarded as a sacrificial animal. Any man of self-esteem
will answer: "No." Altruism says: "Yes."

""Now there is one word—a single word—which can blast the morality of altruism
out of existence and which it cannot withstand—the word: "Why?" Why must man
live for the sake of others? Why must he be a sacrificial animal? Why is that
the good? There is no earthly reason for it—and, ladies and gentlemen, in the
whole history of philosophy no earthly reason has ever been given.

It is only mysticism that can permit moralists to get away with it. It was
mysticism, the unearthly, the supernatural, the irrational that has always been
called upon to justify it—or, to be exact, to escape the necessity of
justification. One does not justify the irrational, one just takes it on faith.
What most moralists—and few of their victims—realize is that reason and altruism
are incompatible.""

"Altruism as a great evil "?? What she was saying is typical conservative,

ultimate virtue."
I think what she was really saying is that justice is the great value.

Mickey's example shows why. I can't remember the details of when and where
it was or what he was comparing it to, but an American colonist wrote about
how those who reaped the benefits of their own labor by owning their own
land were more productive. It's the American way.

I would question your inclusion of "Singer" as a "brilliant VP player and or strategist". I have never found anything helpful in his writings or strategies. In fact, I have often wondered if he was paid by the casinos to plant a seed of doubt into the minds of VP enthusiasts. If anything, he is an anti-strategist. Maybe you can enlighten me about some of his writings that I have obviously missed.

What Ayn Rand was saying is in line with the dictionary definition of
selfishness, i.e. being concerned with one's own interest and the advancement
thereof.

Not the essentially negative connotation that is typically ascribed to
"selfishness" by those who feel it is YOUR duty to provide the fruits of YOUR
efforts to those who do nothing to deserve them, have no legitimate right to
them, and in fact feel they are entitled to them, simply because they want them.

Perhaps I'll have to rethink my position. I'm not locked into any immutable
mindset on all this. I know just enough to know, I don't know ()*&^.

[vpFREE] Las Vegas Hilton

The 9/6 $1 machines that were on the other side of the sports book area, opposite the casino have been moved around slightly, but are still there. Hilton also has $1 NSU in the progressive bank by the sports book.

Coupons in mailers no longer need to be cashed at the cage but are for free play. If you have an out of town address, the mail offers can be quite good. You still need to book a room to cash the coupons. If the free play isn't working when u check in go to the booth.

One annoying feature, you can now download only $25 at a time. I had $300 so had to keep typing in my pin and other numbers over and over. Argh.

The buffet is very good, and includes beer or wine. Locals should be sure to get a sticker for 25% off all food outlets. We also love Benihanas food, though we are tired of the same jokes all the time.

I took friends to see Elvis Impersonator Trent Carlini in the Shimmer Cafe. I'd seen his show about 10 years ago when it was in the main showroom. At that time I thought he was the best Elvis, but 10 years later he seemed tired, didn't look so much like Elvis, had a bad wig, and the show just lacked energy. He is backed up by 3 excellent, sexy dancers, and thank goodness for them. His small band is hidden behind the curtain, and would have been better if on stage. Show may still be worth seeing if you are a big Elvis fan or get a comped ticket, but otherwise, sadly, is now a skip it.
