That's me in the picture, Bob. The Black Velvet on the rocks with the Henry's Hard Orange Soda chaser is a dead giveaway.

Okay. I believe. You're a better looking guy than I figured!

[vpFREE] Static Bonuses in a Video Line Game

It's a five reel video line game. It's a nine-liner nickel game. It has an overall return of 90%. You can bet anywhere from 1 to 40 coins. If you make the max bet then there will be five coins bet on 4 lines and four coins bet on 5 lines.

On the fifth reel is a Dragon symbol. It's the only symbol of its kind in the game and is only on the fifth reel. When you catch the Dragon symbol on the line three times you go into a bonus round. Above the fifth reel is a counter. It starts out at zero. When you catch the Dragon symbol on the line the counter will tick up to 1. Catch the Dragon symbol again and the counter will tick up to 2. Catch it a third time and you go into the bonus round.

Whether you deconstruct the reel or do an empirical study you put the frequency of the Dragon landing on the line at 36. That means the cycle for getting into the bonus round is 108 spins.

This is what happens when you are betting just one coin per spin. When you get to the bonus round 48 tiles will appear. Behind each tile is a monetary award based on your bets when you caught each dragon. Since you were betting just one coin per spin when you caught the Dragons the bonus round will be based on 3 coins (1+1+1=3). You get to pick 3 tiles.

Behind 12 of the tiles will be 1X or 3 coins.
Behind 12 of the tiles will be 2X or 6 coins.
Behind 24 of the tiles will be 3X or 9 coins.

This averages to each pick is worth 6.75 bets. So your average return in the bonus round is 20.25 bets. Dividing 20.25 by 108 tells us that the bonus round is worth 18.75%. Since we know the overall payback is 90% we can deduce that the line pays are worth 71.25%. That means we are being dropped for 28.75% between bonus rounds.

108 X 28.75% means the cost to get to the bonus round is 31.05 coins.
The bonus round is worth 20.25 coins. So we are losing 10.8 coins per 108 game cycle. That works out to exactly a 90% return.

That math is the same for the 40 coin bet except its multiplied by 40. The cost to get to the bonus round is 1242 coins (31.05 X40).

Since you were betting 40 coins each time you caught the Dragon the bonus round will be based on 120 coins:

Behind 12 of the tiles will be 1X or 120 coins.
Behind 12 of the tiles will be 2X or 240 coins.
Behind 24 of the tiles will be 3X or 360 coins.

This averages to each pick is worth 6.75 bets or 270 coins. So the return in the bonus round is 810 coins (20.25 X 40). The loss per 108 game cycle is 432 coins (10.8 X 40). This works out to exactly a 90% return.

But what if you are mixing up your betting. Say you start out by betting 10 coins and catch a Dragon. Then you go to a 20 coin bet and catch another Dragon. Then you go to a 30 coin bet and catch another Dragon. Then the bonus round will be based on 60 coins (10+20+30).

Behind 12 of the tiles will be 1X or 60 coins
Behind 12 of the tiles will be 2X or 120 coins.
Behind 24 of the tiles will be 3X or 180 coins.

No matter how you play it the game always has a 90% return.

So here is the scenario. A ploppie sits down on this game, plays 40 coins per spin, hits two Dragons, then they run out of credits, they get up and walk away. A little while later you come walking along. You punch the game up and see the counter is on 2. You put a five dollar bill in the machine, set it on a 1 coin bet and spin the play off.

Your cost to get to the bonus round is 36 X 28.75% or 10.35 coins (about 52 cents).

When you get to the bonus round the bonuses are going to be based on 81 coins. The first and second Dragons were hit with a 40 coin bet. Then you hit the third one with a 1 coin bet (40+40+1 = 81).

Behind 12 of the tiles will be 1X or 81 coins
Behind 12 of the tiles will be 2X or 162 coins
Behind 24 of the tiles will be 3X or 243 coins.

The average pick is going to be worth 182.25 coins. Since you get three picks the average return is 546.75 coins or $27.34. Your cost to spin the play off was 52 cents. That's a profit of $26.82. Your ROI on the play is about 5300%.

Does a play like this exist? Yes it does. Except I don't average a 5300% return. The play described above is the best case scenario. I never know how many coins the ploppie was playing when they caught each Dragon. They may have only have been betting 9 coins or 18 coins.

I average about a $15 win (about 3000%) on these plays when I find them. It doesn't sound like much but sticking the five dollar bill in the machine, spinning the play off, then cashing out and taking it to the cashier is about a five minute process. So my time in these spots is worth about $180 an hour----on just a nickel bet.

Some days I might only get 1 or two plays. Other days I might get 4 or five. And on a good day I might get 8 or ten plays. Of course, this is all mixed in with my other plays.

Anyways, percentagewise, its the strongest play I have.

Re: [vpFREE] DDB strategy for Aces & Faces

If you actually mean Double Double Bonus Aces & Faces VS regular DDB, then the differences would be small if at all.
If you mean regular Aces & Faces the differences would be huge.

Regards
A.P.

Subject: [vpFREE] DDB strategy for Aces & Faces

I was wondering if there is much difference in strategy between these two games. I currently play DDB but was wondering what the loss would be to play Aces & Faces with the same strategy. What are the basic differences that I would have to make to DDB strategy to play Aces & Faces?

Re: [vpFREE] Re: DDB strategy for Aces & Faces

Use Wizardofodds.com strategy generator for SUPER DOUBLE DOUBLE and manually change the paytable according to regular DDB (2-4's as bonus cards). Note the frequency distribution of the J-K's, A's w/ J-K, and J-K's w/ J-A. Then do a little math (add the difference of the return [a negative number]), and you'll come up with your new return, using DDB strategy for DDAF.
