That is correct. I upgraded to a mini-suite last year from the free inside cabin. I believe the upgrade was 700 a person. It was worth every penny! The casino gives you 300 to gamble with too.

Driving time from the Reno Airport to Harrahs Lake Tahoe is about 75 minutes.  Unless you are going to ski at Heavenly or gamble all the time, there is not much to do within walking distance of Harrahs/Harveys.  I always get a rental car which allows me to go out and do some exploring.  Rental prices at the airport can be very reasonable.

Harrah's has a shuttle that runs every 30 min on the hour. Several casinos do too, catch it


past the baggage area.

[vpFREE] Re: MGM credit card for free parking?

 

I did the credit card thing a week before coming out to Las Vegas. It took maybe 30 seconds online.  We have many friends that play at Mandalay Bay, Bellagio  and other MGM properties and we visit them for dinner all the time, so the parking was going to really tick me off (we rarely play MGM any more).  If they had kept the "locals" exemption, it wouldn't have been necessary as we also have a vacation home in Vegas.   Even though we did not receive the actual credit cards before we came out, me and my wife both received the Pearl card when we went to the Mlife booth upon arrival.
