Thanks for your report on these new machines. I saw some of them at both Wynn and Encore with 8/5 BP, 9/4/4 BDW, 9/7 TDB and 9/7 DB in addition to 9/6 JoB. Details are now in vpFREE2.com.

The placards on these say "Comps available with use of Red Card. Game is not eligible for points or FreeCredit."

[vpFREE] Cosmopolitan Downgrade

It was reported to vpFREE2 a couple of days ago that the 9/6 JoB on the 25c/50c/$1 SpinPoker Deluxe machines at the Cosmopolitan was downgraded to 9/5.

I found that the 8/5 BP and 9/7 DB on these were also downgraded. These machines were popular since you can play any number of lines on SpinPoker and still get the full 4000 coin payout for a royal.

I checked most of the other machines listed in vpFREE2 for this casino and didn't find any other downgrades.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: How bad is this pay table?

The mistake in your later email also is not the fault of vpgenius.  I suspect that your posting of 97.1756% was for a pay schedule that pays 250 coins for a straight flush.  The original poster specified 300 coins for a straight flush.  When you input 300 coins for a straight flush, vpgenius will tell you that the EV is 97.2646%, which is the same number that someone would get when they multiply WinPoker's result of 116.7175% by 5/6 if they would round properly.

Actually the mistake in my earlier message was mine and no fault of vpgenius. I went back to the original post and discovered the payoff for a straight was specified as 4 and not 5. The default value on the vpgenius site for a straight on this game is 5. As for the original question a return of 4 for a straight on a Double Bonus game is a red flag in itself.

The Super Triple Play return is actually less than you suggest. vpgenius calculates it at 97.1756% with a variance of 64.4697. The reason you cannot simply multiply the five coin return by .833333 is that it does not compensate for the "NOTHING" return of zero with the additional coin bet. Since 0 x.83333 (for six coins bet) isn't proportionately smaller than 0 (for five coins bet) an adjustment has to be calculated and then integrated into the return separately. And in this case it makes an already weak game even worse.

[vpFREE] Gambling With an Edge May 19th

Tomorrow night, Michael Shackleford, the Wizard of Odds, will join us on "Gambling With An Edge" to talk about the situation on an offshore website who refused to pay a video poker player $46,000 that the player earned. A discussion of this case may be found at http://wizardofodds.com/casinos/easy-street-sports.html

In addition to this, we'll talk some more with Shack about Super Bowl propositions. We discussed this in our initial show three months ago, and we'll go a little further this time.

On a different subject, the slot director at the M says he expects the new progressives to become live today. He will start the Kings or Better Joker Wild game at 8,000 coins (for both quarters and dollars) and the Super Double Bonus game at 6,000 coins. It's his hope that the progressives take off from there. We'll keep you posted.

Thursday nights, 7-8 p.m. Vegas time KLAV 1230 AM in Las Vegas, and streamed live at www.klav1230am.com . Sometime late Thursday night, the archived show will be available at www.progressivevp.com and sometime Friday on www.bobdancer.com

Re: [vpFREE] Re: How bad is this pay table?

Multiplying a 5-coin return by 5/6 to get a 6-coin return properly accounts for the 0 pays. I suspect the difference between the two methods would be even greater if another way of treating the 0 pays is used. Can you show the calculation to get from 116.7175% to 97.1756%?

My double snip is below:

Bob generally doesn't teach what he doesn't play, so I doubt that he would
be interested in teaching progressives.

Did either of you folks bother to read the article? If you did, you may
want to brush up on your reading skills. I don't think Bob will mind, so I
am copying and pasting the following from the article:

"I've been teaching classes for 14 years, and this will be the first time
I've taught a progressive in my classes. Sam's Town has LOTS of
progressives, and the one I've chosen is 9/7 Double Bonus. "

Now, don't you both feel better now?

I guess it's right. Since I've been ignoring anything with Venetian on it

for the last 2 years, I didn't notice the change. Used to get 3 - 4 nights +

$400 - $600 FP & had to check email back to Oct 2010 for last free offer.

I don't miss it though I have to say that the rooms & the restaurants

were near the top but not enough to make up for the lack of service when

compared to the Wynn.
