[vpFREE] Station winner story

A very good friend of mine was at Red Rock this week. He and wife usually play 5 cent to 25 cent VP. While he was playing up came one of those random sweepstakes, hit 1 number get a prize, two get more, etc. He hit for 4 numbers and was shocked to see he had hit for about 18,000$. His biggest win ever. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person (or couple). Interestingly it was in free play, which he could play at any machine, take out as much or as little as wanted, and NO W2G! But in a twist, it was good my friend immediately snapped a photo of the win, because when the attendant came, attendant took out his card, put in his own card, and when he put back in my friend's card, now it showed him winning only 14,000. Well, all is well when you take a photo of jackpot, 'cause my friend did get his 18K pretty quickly. He played it all through in a couple of days, ending up with something over 17K and a huge smile. You just never know.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Dealt Royals

The second royal I ever had was dealt, in diamonds, non-sequential, on a nickel coin-fed  progressive for $208 at I believe it was Bill's in South Lake Tahoe in 1989.  I was on a blackjack tour in Northern Nevada, having learned a basic hi-lo count strategy earlier that summer and being able to count down a deck in 20 seconds.  Great times.

[vpFREE] Dealt royals

When you get them it sure seems like it is so easy they should happen more frequently, but really they are quite infrequent.
My best was maybe 15 years ago playing DDB at Palms $1 5 play for $20K and some friends were there to see it. A few years later I was with the same couple in Reno at the Peppermill. They had to do something at the slot club and took me over to a $1 NSU and said it was a pretty good machine. Five minutes later I hit a dealt royal.
My biggest surprise win was not dealt, but I was at the Atlantis in Bahamas a few years ago playing 3 play Ultimate x. Up came a 10x multiplier on 3 lines and I was dealt 4 to the Royal. I held them and got a royal on Two Lines! Total win $20,000! I worried about taking that much cash back to the USA, so gave half to my husband to carry.
I haven't had one in several years, but I keep hoping to see one soon.....

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Dealt Royals

I've had three over the years. The first and best one was playing on a 50-play quarter machine in Reno. I didn't want to get a 1099 of I had dealt quads so I was only playing 37 hands. I didn't mind signing for that one however. The largest payout I have ever had on a single bet.

The only one that I ever had on a redraw was at MSS about 10 years ago.

Hate it when I see that.  There are a few stores that have only a couple of 50 or 100 play machines that I want to play..  I've seen so many times where someone is playing  five or ten hands.  UGH

My GF and i live in LV and play weekly.

To get my math degree, I had to sign the "low limit bottom feeder" union card.

Because she's an architect, she's more of a play-to-maximize-comps person.

We're pretty good at acting like we get along.

I've had 2 dealt RFs.  One playing a (SADLY NOW REMOVED) Downtown Dueces Wild at the eC.  I had to hold all.

One playing 10/7 at MSS.  I had to take a nitroglycerin before i realized the machine had locked up by itself.  The 5 machine double bank was full and i was even more surprised that NO ONE ELSE was surprised than i had been from the fact that it COULD actually even happen..

My GF had a dealt at GVR on NSUD.  People there freaked out.  The machine locked.

I still want to believe that the fact that i was not wearing a dress -but she was- had nothing to do with it.

I was talking to a math prof pal of mine from OH (hi, TJ!) when he was dealt a r! oyal at the Palms on their 9/6 50 play.  I'm hypersensiti! ve to machine maladies, that's probably how i noticed it flicker just after he hit the initial draw button.

TJ just kept talking to me.

"Uh.  You don't get to bitch about never having a royal ever again.  For the rest of your life.  Ever."

The machine lit up, in the words of Mr. Ice, "like a candle."  It locked solid enough that it took three slot mechanics, AND the oldest cocktail waitress on duty, to make it usable again.

That was 10c credit, 50 play.  $4000.  SO, so much! sweeter than the same payout from dollar single play.

Yeah, yeah, "but if you'd played for more..."  If you'd played for more, you wouldn't have been dealt that royal and would be suckin' on an empty bottle of Night Train on Ogden today.

There was a significant downside to this hit, though.  $4000 is a LOT of dimes.  And Ace cab won't ship it "for public safety reasons."

"Big Hoss" in his dually Uber will GLADLY take it.  That's the up-side.

The down is you have to hear a lot about all types of! spaghetti bowls though.  And the looks you get when you slip some! one twenty dimes instead of two George Washingtons isn't what I'd call, "friendly."
