[vpFREE] More Info about Boyd properties

Although I have written much on this subject in my blog, today's LVA QOD, which I wrote, gives a little more info.  http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/qod.cfm   If you are a subscriber, you can read QOD's anytime, current ones or any in the archives.  However, if you are not a subscriber, you can only read the current day's one.

Re: [vpFREE] Caesars Windsor

I have been there several times, but unfortunately my host is no longer there. Maybe have your favorite host in the US recommend a host there.

It is a non-smoking casino, so nice for those who don't smoke.  If you want to smoke, they have three or four areas you can go out and smoke. There isn't a lot of VP, but when you do win, there is no 1099 in Canada, so all money is tax free. To be honest, about 5 years ago when I first started going I did pretty good. But the last two years I went 5 times, and it wasn't good at all. I spent most of my time across the Lake.

You do need a passport to get across the border, and that can take some time. I have rented cars in both Canada and Michigan, but it can be time consuming going across. Take the tunnel, it's usually faster. A limo will pick you up at the airport.  I fly into Detroit, about 25 minutes away.

Ask your host to book you a suite in the Augustus Tower (better location) facing the Lake and Detroit, which is a pretty view, especially at night. Since it's a 7* trip, see if they'll give you the butler suites. And they have comped all food there for me when I've been there on my 7* trip.

Drinks are not comped, not even in the Diamond Lounge.  The Diamond Lounge is better than most, with hot food that isn't just an appetizer in the late afternoon. I was there one time for their Canadian Thanksgiving, and they had turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. I've had great pasta, salmon, and steak there during their dinner hours.

They get some good concerts there. Try to find out what's going on and book your trip around something you want to see. There are a lot of people that come in from Michigan, so it can get crowded, but there are two floors of gaming.

The last time I was there the exchange of money was even. Be sure to show your 7* trip when you exchange money, because they give you a better percentage. If I remember right, I was told it was better money to go thru the ATM, but being 7* I think that might be better or just as good.

Across the Lake are three casinos in Detroit. I like the MGM, but Motor City is pretty good too.  There are more VP games over there.

The food is okay. I haven't been there for a year, but none of them stands out as excellent. Windsor has a good BBQ place (the concierge will tell you), and it's nice to tour the country for a day. There isn't a lot to do in  Windsor that I have found, but we do take walks.

Have fun.

Hi Gang:
Hedy and I are contemplating a Seven Stars trip to Caesars Windsor this summer. Can anyone recommend a good host that we can contact prior to our trip? Also any info on the property will be helpful. We've never been there but have family not far away in Michigan that we want to visit.
Thanks in advance for any help.

CoachVee & Hedy

Hi Gang:
A pair of close friends of ours accomplished something over the past couple of weeks at Harrah's Atlantic City that is absolutely mind-boggling.
The wife, a lifelong friend of Hedy (they grew up in Brooklyn together), started things off when she made a truly spectacular hit. Playing the triple-line, joker poker quarter progressive machines, she was dealt the five aces for a $98,000 jackpot!!
ONE WEEK later, playing the same bank of machines, she again was dealt the five aces for just over $50,000! What was startling about this was the fact that just minutes before the jackpot was hit for $66,000 on a machine a few feet away from where she was playing!
But this amazing couple was not done yet.
The next evening, her husband came over to where she was playing and told her he thought it was time for them to call it a night.
She wanted to play for a few more minutes, so he stuck in a $100 bill and started to play next to her. After about 10 minutes, with $33 left in his bank, HE was dealt the five aces for a $54,000 hit!!
UNREAL! AMAZING! UNBELIEVABLE! But true!
We love these two and are thrilled for them, but would love for a little bit of that luck to rub off on us!
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy
