RE: [vpFREE] Re: Hall of Fame stringent rules
for the VPFree Admin write in campaign to begin!
Great idea! If we got 200 different vpFREE members to
post that they wanted the vpFREE Adminstrator to be in the HOF, everybody could
see the support. Since all of us could see how many people made such posts, that
would get around the administrator's concern that there is a conflict of
interest in him counting the ballots!
So while I'm voting for Ernie Moody on the ballot, I am
publicly acclaiming my support for the Administrator. I encourage you to do the
same. If we get enough folks to do this, even the Administrator will eventually
have to admit "the people have spoken."
Many of you have proclaimed support for the
Administrator in the past. Even if you've done so in the past, do it again now
so that all the votes are more-or-less in the same place at the same time.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Williams my poker
I haven't
seen the live version, but I did examine what they had at the G2E Gaming Show
recently.
The boxes
are more comfortable to play at than the IGT boxes. Different body types may
not fit so well, but it's worth checking out.
For otherwise the
same pay schedule, WMS pays 275 for a straight flush rather than 250. This adds
about 0.05%. It's hard to get excited about this amount --- but still, every
little bit adds up.
They have a
large number of options on how you see the cards. Most are worthless, in my
opinion. The two options that seem most useful to me are sorting by rank (high-to-low
either right-to-left or left-to-right) and they have a couple of 4-color suit
options that might make it easier to differentiate clubs from spades or
diamonds from hearts. Using both a sort option and a 4-color option together
would make 3-card straight flushes, for example, much more obvious than they
are now. That alone could easily improve someone's accuracy because they would
"blink" fewer such combinations. And it would be easier to see if
they had 1 or 2 gaps if they were in sequential order.
Harrah's (nationally
and Las Vegas Strip) and Station Casinos (Las Vegas local) are purported to
have a 6 month exclusive on the game. After that, expect to see it everywhere.

[vpFREE] Re: Williams my poker
I was told that a bank of WMS slots on the floor of Harrah's NOLA are slated for conversion to vp with My Poker enabled, pending regulatory approval.
My take on the feature set: Lots of buzz, but no real meat. (I've been mistaken in the past)
The real gem here is a machine profile that features a lower keypad/handrest ... promising a more comfortable play experience.

[vpFREE] Re: Hall of Fame stringent rules
As someone that is mostly a lurker but has advocated this (VPFree Admin for HoF) in the past, in my humble opinion the people of this forum trust the administrator enough to know he would handle this honestly, despite his reluctance.
Time for the VPFree Admin write in campaign to begin!
Just my .02- Thanks, Lee.
Ps- Please consider this my vote.

VERY few of the players play perfectly. Give us a break will ya! I would like some excuse to play. Hard to justify gambling with this promo.

[vpFREE] Palms
The Palms has made the latest play earn and win, unplayable in my opnion.
A video poker player has to play 10 times the amount as a slot player for the same "gift." Same thing with drawing tickets, a 10 to 1 ratio. Prior months it was 5 to 1.
A year or two ago, 20,000 coin in would get you a $100 value for gift cards. Now it takes 50,000 coin in for the same $100. 6-8 hrs of play on those 10x quarters.
This amount of play for various gifts has been creeping higher and higher over the past few months, and now the game is no longer a positive play even "on paper."
VERY few of the players play perfectly. Give us a break will ya! I would like some excuse to play. Hard to justify gambling with this promo.

The reason for my ineligibility for the vpFREE Hall of Fame is that
I believe it is a conflict of interest for the person who makes the rules
and supervises the election process to be eligible.

The Prog. for a DEALT royal maybe...but no way $30k for just hitting ONE royal on a 5-play 25c machine...
Still stupid play though...

Did they keep the 4 to a royal or the flush? See photo under album titled Play at Aria for the answer. BTW, the progressive meter read $30,000+. Please do not scream.

Subject: 2012 vpFREE Hall of Fame Election
To: vpFREE <vpFREE@yahoogroups.com>
In 2002 the vpFREE Video Poker Group elected and inducted
five charter members into the vpFREE VIDEO POKER HALL OF
FAME, which recognizes and honors those who have made
significant contributions to the playing, understanding and
popularity of video poker. These charter members and the
2003 through 2008 inductees are:
Gary Catlin
Bob Dancer
Lenny Frome
Skip Hughes
Dan Paymar
Si Redd
Jean Scott
TomSki
Michael "The Wizard of Odds" Shackleford
Stanford Wong
Dean Zamzow
These members are honored on the Hall of Fame web site:
http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1955/20228/V/HOF.htm
Hall of Fame elections are now held every four years (years
evenly divisible by four) and a nominee must get more than
33% of the votes cast (every vpFREE member has one vote) in
order to be inducted. If no one receives more than 33% of
the votes cast, there will not be an inductee that year.
The 2012 Hall of Fame election will be conducted between 8
December and 22 December 2012.
For additional Hall of Fame information, see FAQ #60:
http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1955/20228/V/FAQ.htm#60
The vpFREE Administrative Committee has selected the following
nominees for the 2012 Hall of Fame election:
Linda Boyd
Jazbo Burns
Jeffrey Compton
Anthony Curtis
Liam Daily
Larry DeMar
Dunbar
Elliot Frome
John Grochowski
Art "5-card" Harris
Steve Jacobs
J.B.
John "Lodestone" Kelly
Frank Kneeland
Scot Krause
Hans "Tuna" Lund
Ernie Moody
Harry Porter

Jim Wolf
The 2012 Nominee web page which lists the nominees and a
short, video poker relevant biography can be viewed at:
http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1955/20228/V/HOFN.htm
Between now and 8 December, additional nominees can be
suggested by vpFREE members (along with their
qualifications), and the merits of anyone's favorite can be
expounded and discussed. Any suggested nominee(s) who
receive majority approval from the Administrative Committee
will be added to the list of nominees.

My goal is to preserve the exclusivity of the Hall of Fame,
while ensuring that worthy candidates get recognized. The
election rules are designed to accomplish this goal.
Here are the % of vote figures for the winning inductee in each
of the Hall of Fame elections.
2002 - 14.1%
2003 - 19.8%
2004 - 25.8%
2005 - 39.9%
2006 - 23.4%
2007 - 25.3%
2008 - 57.0%
Each previous Hall of Fame election has removed successful
inductees from the nominee pool. And, each removal makes it
easier for a stand-out candidate to receive a higher
percentage of the total vote.
The greater than 1/3 requirement seems reasonable and
attainable to me, but it is tweakable in future elections,
if it seems appropriate.

I did not word the first part correctly..What I meant to say was not only should he have been on the nomination list but he should have already been in the HOF.
