Apparently May 17 is the opening day for the new steakhouse, center bar, and lounge. Champagne celebration will be starting 5pm on casino floor.
I asked about Senior Days and was told they will no longer have one (I guess that means they are aiming the new Palms more at younger folks...at least until they change policies again), and no senior movie discount (though Monday may be the cheapest matinee at $5). I was also told that the Palms Station promotions will continue to be separate from other Stations properties. Presidents do get 50% off the buffet, Platinum 25%, if paying with points.
For early eaters, arriving at 3:30 for the AYCE buffet gets you lunch prices and lunch selections, which then change over to dinner selections at 4pm.. I guess this is Drunch, which we liked because we liked the luncheon chicken pot pie which gets taken away around 4pm.
Station is spending millions on redoing EVERYTHING in the Palms. If you haven't been there lately you will be amazed. Even things I would have never thought of redoing, such as bathrooms, hallways, trees, etc., are all being or have been redone. I thought the outside portico above valet was finished, but today they were putting chandeliers up ..outside the building. The main sign has been replaced, for no apparent reason to my eyes. The cinemas now have new reclining chairs. They are planting numerous new bushes and trees. The high roller slot area is now next to baccarat pit (in area of old high roller) and is open.
They are also adding new parking to the top of the west side parking garage, something that is badly needed. On the east side the Chinese restaurant and Hooters area are gone, being worked on, as is the parking garage. I assume eventually a new Chinese restaurant and more will show up there. The Addison Ballroom will become another restaurant.
9/6 machines are around, but I don't know if NSU is there. Single line 9/6 are in the alcove near the west entrance, and the exit to the outside is now closed from it. I also found triple play 9/6 JB. Both were quarter, fifty cent, and $1. I didn't see any machines labeled as 100% as they are in other Stations casinos, but may have missed them since new areas were just opened up.
I ate at the new Noodle Bar, which was very good but seemed a bit high priced. They have various types of noodle dishes, and also hot pots, and main courses like Peking Duck ($48, seems high to me). My noodle soup with duck was excellent, though on the smaller size at $18...but instead of just chopping up pieces of duck with bone, they carved up the good breast without bones and put that in. Soda $4.
By the way, if you have the swipe and win offer for Friday's and Saturday's this month, you actually can type in any 5 digit number, you don't need the one they sent you.
