If you have a room facing the Strip, you should be able to see the Bellagio fountain show from the room. Very impressive.
Harrah's website has photos of seven different room styles and lists the features of each one.

The Red Rock website lists ten hosts and their photos and contact info. David and Joanie are OK. http://www.redrocklasvegas.com/gaming/hosts.php
That APDW at the M are long gone. The video poker listed in vpfree2.com looks current to me.

I'm a local who plays regularly at the Silverton. Straub4 already gave you some good feedback. I would like to add that I find all the personnel to be very friendly. And they have lots of promotions. Some are better than others. Their video poker is weak but the promotions and slot club benefits make up for it.
There's a lot of info on their website about their promotions and everything else available there.
It will be interesting to see how strongly they market the Maine casino since the location sounds remote and there doesn't seem to be much competition.
[vpFREE] Stations 4 Point Day
Could someone explain to me please. Is the Stations offer 4 Point Day mean I get 4 points per dollar played? Is this the replacement of Multiples? Anyone get more than a 4 point day?

Thanks, Jean and everyone else, too. I'm sure my training helped - I work
for a detective agency and often have to create an accurate description of
someone from only a few seconds' visual. The police really did an amazing
job and I think we all must appreciate their work, often under very
dangerous and difficult conditions.

I just saw this story on Channel 8 News. Karen, they didn't give your name
but just your age!!!! :) or :(

I'm happy they didn't tell my name, Jean. And my age conveys someone more
old and frail than I feel or (I'm told) look. So it's better that they
told my age.

I was wondering when someone else was going to post about not making a 6 figure salary. Typical comment coming from someone who owns a corvette.

[vpFREE] Re: Rooms at Harrahs Las Vegas
I also don't get to Vegas very often anymore, with closer-to-home casinos having a net advantage for me and my interests and values most of the time now.
When I do go, since I can't afford the $5 machines, I don't find playable VP at Harrah's properties, so I don't play VP while there -- so I end up paying for my room, even though I'm Diamond from action elsewhere, since they know I will stay there and not play. For that reason, I also find Harrah's, although not that great, my choice due to low cost and good location.
My info of value is minimal, but I know there are different towers and some are nicer than others; the desk clerk or a reservations agent may be able to tell you which is best and whether it's available at no extra charge.
I also know, from other threads here in the past, that asking for an upgrade at check-in, esp. if accompanied by a $10-20 tip to the desk clerk, can often get a much nicer room than the standard room that was promised.
As you indicate, the standard room is pretty minimal in quality and amenities, but as you indicate, and it's the same for me as well, the location is worthwhile, the price is reasonable if you're in your own pocket for the room and don't expect to spend much time in the room, and in the absence of an accompanying spouse, that is enough to take me to Harrah's also, so don't apologize too heavily for your decision :)

The more that I think about this question the more I think the answer is "it depends". I'm thinking if you have a linear function of money, and don't care about risk of ruin (as you put it it's factored into the EV already), the optimal one hand strategy would be to bet it all and walk with the results, never gambling again. What if you want to play more than one hand? Then it depends on what your acceptable risk of ruin is. If you go on betting it all, your risk of ruin approaches 100%, which is not a linear function of money, it's boom or bust with bust the likely result. If you want to play as long as possible, then you need a proportional betting system like Kelly, my guess is some multiple between 1 and 2 of the Kelly bet, since with a linear function you are more risk-seeking than Kelly. If you're willing to take some risk of ruin, then that defines your optimum bet size. The question of what risk of ruin is acceptable can also effect the optimum strategy for one bet.
[vpFREE] Re: Hosts
This is pretty funny. I have no problems with Palace Station, in fact I have hit more royals there than I can count, but to tell someone to go there instead of Red Rock is like telling someone that hangs out at the Encore to try the Fiesta instead. Sort of a different league of casino.

No Red Rock host can do much for you particularly if you are local. They are cracking down hard on comps - hosts have so little discretion Eli Prussin fled to Mesquite. Red Rock is the last Station property you want to go to if you need something from a host. Go to Palace Station, their hosts will help you because they can.

Yeah, the 90% of us who make under 6 figures are real stupid for not thinking of that.
Brilliant comment in this economy. Sort of like going to a cancer ward and screaming at people to not get cancer.

[vpFREE] Rooms at Harrahs Las Vegas--Advice sought--thanks in advance
We are sorry if this question has been answered before, but multiple searches of old messages have not produced any info.
We will be staying @ harrahs LV for 4 days early next month. We know it is not the fanciest, but the price/location made it very attractive. Anybody have thoughts on what location/type room we should try to get?
We requested a king bed and a non-smoking room, and wonder what else we should seek. The clerk who took our reservation told us we should ask for an upgrade on check-in. As we are rarely in LV and have never been inside this particular property any advice as to which tower(s)/floor(s)/views etc. are most desirable would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Dominick
