Re: [vpFREE] Re: The "tool box" for pros in 2014?
These days if you're playing a machine with a known overlay, you should probably decline tracking, just as you should probably decline tracking at a table game where you know there is an overlay, due to card flashing or whatever. The problem is that the penalty for getting tracked probably way exceeds the small rewards you can get off the card. Also there's the issue of taxes. Even if you're not generating W2G's, if you're getting tracked you might just get an audit when you thought you could fly under the radar. Of course if you're generating W2G's or SAR's, then you are getting tracked anyway. W2G's kick in at $1200 payoffs, SAR's are undefined but certainly at $10k accumulated and if they suspect you of "structuring" at any amount. You might consider getting a good accountant and a good lawyer beforehand, ones experienced in gambling issues. Jean Scott has talked about her accountant, and numerous lawyers have appeared on the GWAE radio show.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Harrah's Shocker
Were those the two DSTP machines inside the High Limit area? Or the machine(s) that used to be in the newly remodeled area where Pinks used to be and Corked now is?Just thought I'd update everyone on the current status at Rincon (didn't know how to create a new e-mail so replying to this one). I was there a week ago and they had all sorts of great (for CA) paytables. I was playing 8/5 25c bonus poker on a double super times pay machine. Usually the super times pay machines have worse paytables because the super times pay bonus adds very slightly to the EV, so I was happy. Lots of volatility but it worked out well for me and left $500 richer. Then I went back yesterday and almost all the video poker machines were gone or out of service. I'm not sure what's going on there, but I'm worried that the good paytables were only temporary since I couldn't find anything comparable. It looks like they may be moving over to all new machines which had the questionable "bonus poker" and other crappy paytables. On Mon, Oct 28, 2013 at 1:42 PM, Vegasvpplayer <vegasvpplayer@gmail.com> wrote:
Most single line video poker machines at Harrah's Rincon have been replaced with new ones, but with worse paytables. I haven't seen any with 8/5 Bonus Poker, 8/5 ACE$ Bonus, etc. They haven't gotten to High Limits yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

Looks like Rincon is the next to get the CZR video poker treatment. If the good pays return, get ready for the $25/$50 dollar per point treatment.

Am I wrong about that? You're not wrong that benefits are greatly curtailed for play on 100% machines at most casinos and especially at Stations. And there's a risk of getting permanently banned from all mailers/promotions/multipliers if you play only the good machines and/or win too much.I believe that most successful vp players play sub-100% games and get slot club benefits that make up the difference, but that usually takes a bigger bankroll than playing 25c FPDW.

Re: [vpFREE] The "tool box" for pros in 2014?
funnyguy said: 'm new to VP but not advantage play. My background includes card counting, three card poker and I still do sports (arbitrage and props).
What does the current "tool box" look like for pros? Is it even still possible to do VP full time? So far I've been sharpening my FPDW at a Stations but there has to be greater EV out there than that.
I don't do coupons and I don't really do the players club (play unrated most of the time). I know I need to add these. But what else is there? Again, I'm assuming you can even do this full time any more.
FWIW, this is the exact subject I'll be addressing on this Thursday's Gambling with an Edge. 7-8 p.m. Vegas time 1230 AM in Vegas, www.klav1230am.com from anywhere. The show will be archived on bobdancer.com the day after the broadcast.

Joining the players clubs will allow you to receive the slot club benefits you will need to be more profitable. You'll get bounceback free play, point multipliers, promotions and free or discounted food. While you're waiting for Bob's Thursday radio show, read Jean Scott's recent five part blog "Can You Still Do It?". It addresses your questions. Here's Part 1 - http://jscott.lvablog.com/?p=3232

Re: [vpFREE] Re: The "tool box" for pros in 2014?
The most likely answer is the era of the advantage player specializing in one game is over, for it to be your sole source of income you must play multiple games such as blackjack and vp, or have another source of income as well. Yes Mr. Dancer specializes in vp, but he's also a writer and has software.
