A good example would be a hand like AhJh5h10h3s

You have two choices: 4 hearts "4 to a flush" or A, J, T of hearts "3 to
a royal flush". 3 to a royal is higher on the list than 4 to a flush so
hold that and discard the 5 of hearts and 3 of spades.

[vpFREE] El Cortez ATM Promotion

 

I read about an ATM withdrawal promotion at the El Cortez in March's Las
Vegas Advisor and decided to go check it out. Here's the deal:

You can earn up to $50 per month in free play. They pay you 5% in free
play for withdrawing money from their ATMs.

I used the machine right next to the Club desk. I was charged a $3.50 fee.

1. Withdraw $1000, Get a receipt(!)
2. Take the receipt to the cage, get a certificate for $50 free play.
3. Take the certificate to the club, $50 will be loaded on your card.

I was told by the cage that you can get up to $50 per month in free play
this way. To be eligible in subsequent months, you need 1500 points in
the previous month. No points were required for the first installment.

I figure it's worth about $35/month if you put the $1500 through 8/5 Bonus
Poker.

This is very interesting.  I didn't realize it at the time, but now see that someone tried to do this to me at Planet Hollywood last year.  Luckily, I felt like the guy was scamming me (especially when he told me that he was up millions and didn't need any money, but just wanted to help others beat the casinos) and thus did not take him up on his "free tutoring".  He was trying to get me to move to an Ultimate X machine and was going to show me the pattern to beat the machine, but I refused and am glad that I did.

Scene: Palms playing 10-play quarter VP. Guy comes over from other side of
bank to show me how to turn on $500 bonus feature on Ultimate X. Like a fool
I follow him to other side where there are two empty seats for Ultimate X.
He has me play all the games leaving multipliers with the line that you have
to switch every few hands in order to turn on multiplier & you have to
switch machines. The gist is I didn't believe him but I went with it & left
a lot of multipliers active. He seemed to know how to play & mentioned
American Casino Guide so I suckered for it. I realized I was scammed when I
got on another forum & someone reported a similar scam involving old ladies.

Decided I had to do something:
1. Called Palms Security & gave them all the details of when, where & who.
2. Posted this.
3. Will be actively looking for this at other casinos & alert their
Security.

NB Ultimate X is a video poker game where you can "vulture" active
multipliers. I'll leave it to the rest of the forum to explain how that
works.

A lot of people have trouble on this website. The guy in charge will just tell you to clean your cache, but that rarely helps. It is usually something on their website. Others will report the same problem, whatever it is, and voila...it will be corrected in the near future. Keep trying at a later time.
