Re: [vpFREE] Re: Need help finding video poker software

I understand about none of the strategy plays change, but I don't think that you can get the variance for the game without knowing the multiplier frequency, which apparently is (at least slightly) different than regular Super Times Pay.  Or is that public knowledge that I just haven't noticed?

There are a lot of games (like Quick Quads --- Ultimate X) that I'd like to see on a new version of Video Poker for Winners. Unfortunately Mike Wood --- the mathematician behind VPW --- passed away not so long ago. He was one of Ernie Moody's best friends. Ernie (the financial backer behind the software) hasn't felt inclined to go ahead with another version. Insofar as Double Super Times Pay specifically, the game can be analyzed completely by treating it as regular 5-coin-per-line game and adding a half-percent to the return. None of the plays change when you go from regular pay schedules to DSTP pay schedules. Bob

According to this, it doesn't sound like Wolf Video Poker software will be upgraded: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpFREE/message/111778

I don't know of any training software that has Double Super Times Pay, although Video Poker for Winners has some other games by Action Gaming.

[vpFREE] Re: Ma. Passes Casino Bill

It passed the senate but now goes to joint committee to work out differences. Here's the proposed tax structure:

"...Winning bidders will pay a 25 percent tax on gross casino proceeds and 49 percent of the slots parlor's take, bringing the state millions of dollars a year..."
But the devil is in the details.
http://tinyurl.com/63k7n3p
http://www.bostonherald.com/business/general/view/2011_1015bay_state_could_do_bet-termass_casino_taxesmiddle_of_the_pack_mass_casino_taxesmiddle_of_the_pack/

FWMS gives Conn 25% of slot machine revenue but nada on tables. I think Conn in return guarantees no other casinos without MSFW approval. Worst thing will be if Mass awards a license to FWMS or a syndicate that has their involvment.

This will take at least 5 years b4 shovels are in ground. It was proposed 5 years ago and a license would have gone for a billion dollars. Now 10% of that if their lucky.

In ten years there will be at least one in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. Rhode Island has pseudo-casinos with state owned VLT
and a 70% rake. That's gonna change.

Plenty of gamblers in New England.

Silverton questions. Can anyone tell me if you are able to use your NEW points for gift cards? How many points = dollars & what kind of gift cards. We will be visiting Vegas soon & would like to use some of our new points. Or can you use new points for cash back? Any suggestions on the best way to use new points would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully Mohegan Sun isn't awarded one of the contracts. They have a presentation on their web site.

[vpFREE] Re: Info when you cash a ticket

Lisa, that's a great question and on the surface it does not make sense why they want it done that way. My advice is to pick up a copy of the book. I did a few years ago and think it's a must read for anyone who enjoys gambling. My friends make fun of me whenever I log my win/loss every time I leave a table/machine but they simply don't understand the potential tax issues.

Previously I only played blackjack so while I may have one thousands at a time there was never any government forms to fill out, however now I am on my quest for my first royal flush and I know that I will be filling out a form eventually...which will mark the first year that I will have to report my gambling wins/losses.

<<Not everyone who gambles is required to report gambling activity on their

Sorry, but this is very dangerous misinformation. From "Tax Help for
Gamblers":
"Many people think they understand the gambling-income concept. "Hey, I'd be
glad to report income for a year in which I actually won money gambling, but
that hasn't happened yet." What they don't understand is that the IRS is not
talking about one net win-or-loss figure at the end of the tax year, but
win/loss figures for individual gambling sessions. They say: You cannot net
out your gambling for the year. You must add up all the winning sessions and
all the losing sessions separately. To emphasize this, the IRS puts this, in
plain non-technical easy-to-understand language, in the instructions that
come with your tax forms: You cannot reduce your gambling winnings by your
gambling losses and report the difference."

True, most casual gamblers do not report their gambling action. But if you
ever get even one W-2G, you appear on the IRS radar - and will have to start
reporting your gambling action. This can cause the uninformed a lot of grief
- that is why I wrote the tax book, to help you know the facts and how to
navigate those rough IRS waters!!!!

Benihana's has been having some great monthly Chef's Specials. They don't appear on menu, you ask for Chefs Special when u order. Oct. It is shrimp and chicken dinner for two people $36. So that is less than 20 per person. You get onion soup, salad with Japanese dressing, shrimp appetizer, then main course cooked on hibachi table of more shrimp and chicken, white rice, veggies (onions and squash I think), then mushrooms, plus "show" of chef.
(note, drinks, desert, fried rice, and so on are extra).

There is a LOT of food. Last month we went for filet and chicken special ($46 for two, for sept. Only) and both my husband and I had enough leftovers to take home for next day meal.

Also in Oct. Tuna steak dinner Chefs Special $21.75 for one person.

Benihanas is at the Las Vegas Hilton, and opens at 5:30 p.m. Nightly.

Also if you join the slot club at Hilton, And have a Vegas ID, you can get a sticker on your card for 25% off food at any Hilton special, but discount doesn't apply to the Chef specials, but does to any other Benihana meals. Some of those 2:1 ticket places also have discount coupons for Benihanas and many other Vegas restaurants.
