Mini Trip report the 'D': Thanksgiving 2012. All in all, I would go back , but prefer to wait till all the restaurants are re-opened.
Good:
G1: Fast check in, friendly staff
G2: Good selection of games. For example loose slots. This trip my $200 dummy slot budget got to $1000 before I quit, so I actually did as good as video poker on these. The Video poker has Nsud, STP with 8/5 bonus, 10/7 db, and 8/5 bonus poker progressive in $,25C that do go positive. They still have that lone 101.7 5C loose deuce machine and a fun Sigma Derby game.
G3: the rooms have been fixed up and mine had 3D television, fridge, and safe, and new firm mattress.
G4: location center of downtown experience, next door to 4 Queens and Fremont - so if playing full pay is important , this is a good place.
G5: party atmosphere...getting many more visitors here since they fixed up the place and put in the long bar. There is nothing playable at that bar, so I'd only go there for a drink.
G6: Offers - I got $70 in free play and $70 in match play, and $25 in food ( which I did not use ).
Bad:
B1: Many of the NSUD , 10/7 machines are coin droppers. Some require hand pay if over $50.
B2: Construction is NOT over with yet !
Ugly:
U1: Restaurants - there is only one open , a hot dog stand. This is a disgrace for a hotel with 1100 rooms ! The food comps can also be used for the main restaurant at sister casino "the golden gate" 3 blocks away.
U2: 2nd floor - you really must use their slow elevator to get to the 2nd floor. They use to have escalators and stairs, but these are out of order for construction.
U3: Elevators...slow, slow, and more slow.
